Melody Monroe's heart tightened as she listened to him.
'What does he mean by that?'
'He's not actually coming to the show to find me, is he?'
"I... I'm filming the show, I can't get away," Melody Monroe stammered. "How about I come back as soon as filming is over?"
"No." Evan Fairchild propped an arm against the car window and watched the rows of streetlights flying backward.
"I'm on my way to Cragmore. I have a flight to Jansburg tonight, and then I'll travel from there. I should arrive by morning." He was rushing through the night for her.
"Don't come! Seriously, don't come!" Melody Monroe was terrified.
"We're dating openly and honestly. Why are we acting like we have to hide in the shadows?"
"Da... dating?"
"Aren't we dating?" Evan Fairchild asked in return.
Melody Monroe: 'Are we? Didn't I just latch onto his coattails?'
"Or do you think we need to hold a press conference to make things clear?"
