Suddenly, Melody heard the door open. She turned and saw Evan Fairchild walk in.
"What are you doing back at this hour?"
"I didn't have anything this afternoon, so I came home early." As soon as Evan stepped inside, he was greeted by the delicious aroma of food. The scent alone was mouthwatering.
He walked over and wrapped his arms around Melody. For some reason, he was suddenly starting to like it here. It felt so comfortable and cozy.
Melody felt his arms tighten around her and quickly shook her head. "We can't."
"How many days has it been? Why not yet?"
"It's only been three days." Melody wished her period would come twice a month!
"It'd be better if it never came."
"Wouldn't it be scarier if it didn't?" The very thought was terrifying.
'What's there to be scared of?' Evan thought. 'Although he felt that children were a handful, if they had another one, couldn't he use it as an opportunity to get their marriage certificate?'
Melody didn't know what to say to that.
