After leaving the director's office, Chen Yang didn't leave right away, waiting instead until Shanshan woke up.
If the little girl woke up to find he was gone, she would become anxious over her biological father's attempt to adopt her, and that would be an utterly heartbreaking sight.
"Uncle Chen, you're still here," Shanshan said with delight.
Chen Yang picked her up and gently booped her little nose. "Shanshan, I have some news for you. Your father won't be taking you away anymore. There were some legal issues, so you don't have to worry."
"Really?" Shanshan was overjoyed, a brilliant smile spreading across her small face as she said cheerfully, "I'm so happy now!"
"You look so beautiful when you smile," Chen Yang said, putting her down. "I have to go for today, but I'll come back to see you another day."
"Okay, Uncle Chen," Shanshan beamed.
