The next morning grey and Lily woke up feeling even more exhausted than before she had went to bed.
Grey started stomping the bed "That dammed snake actually ate and had the nerve to vomit me out… THE ADACITY!"
Lily just curled up into a ball "she tased me with her tongue every time I tried to hide." She whimpered sadly.
Hugo the bald butler soon opened the door only to be startled "young miss your sweating as if you ran like a horse? Do I need to get some better sheets or was it the air system?"
The morning sunlight reflected off his dark bald head majesty grabbing greys attention.
"No but please do draw me a bath I'm ready to just relax today."
"No can do young miss you have training to do after breakfast. Also there's been word of a strange bat like demon feeding off of blood in the woods at night so do be careful."
Hugo said the last bit at a very guilty grey who was looking away.
"Please! Uncle Teddy already put us through a all night training course in our dreams."
She made some baby eyes begging to rest.
Grey saw her face and tried copying her adding to the cuteness.
Hugo looked at his young miss and grey trying his best not to give in.
But he soon noticed the bags under their eyes and the heavy sweat on them. "Fine~ I'll go prepare the artificial hot spring."
Lily jumped up in exitment before quickly hugging Hugo as grey just watched.
Hugo hugged her back before looking deep into her emerald eyes with his golden ones.
"Young miss at work on your beast bond so we can tell your father you did some training this morning, to calm his mind."
"Thank you uncle Hugo!" She said with all the joy of a child warming Hugo's heart.
"It is my job to guard the young masters of the wright house and help them stay healthy. Now go get ready and if your father asks you were training with your summon." Hugo turned only to dissipate himself into mist.
As soon as Hugo left Lily ran around before grabbing a book on summoning and a towel before heading down the hall hurriedly.
Grey followed her through the hall and down the stairs before stopping at a door under the stairs they entered what seemed like a closet they entered grey was hesitant but followed.
Grey looked around in confusion and slight fear as she clicked a button on the wall causing the closet to fall into the ground.
The moment grey felt like he was falling through the earth he panicked jumping onto lilys leg. "AAAAAÆÆÆÆÆÆHHHHH!!! The grounds eating us. I-i can't die Lily what we do we're being CAGED in!" He cry out genuinely trembling.
Grey sounded genuinely terrified which broke lily's heart. She quickly knelt down and gently picked him up in her arms. She felt his entire body trembling as if he was using his rune.
In a calm but gentle voice she whispered "shhh it's ok, it's just a elevator a machine made to take us underground I promise."
She waited a few moments before his trembling slowly stopped. He asked his voice cracking "we're not being caged in."
Lily quickly realized something be pulling him into a hug. "I will never let anyone lock you in a cage ever I mean it."
A mist like figure watched this heartbreaking moment from above before disappearing again after clicking close door when they stopped.
They stayed in the hug even after a few moments until grey fully calmed.
When everything settled she noticed they were at the cave floor but the doors were still closed she quickly pressed a button to open the door only to see Hugo with extra clothes ready as the doors opened.
"Thank you uncle Hugo."
"My pleasure." Was all he said before he vanished.
Lily walked ahead throughout the cave light by luminous moss on the ceiling and a giant underground lake at the center letting of steam with a crystal statue spewing out water.
Everything looked hand sculpted and deliberate.
Lily quickly undressed before wrapping herself and her hair in a towel.
As she did that grey kept touching the hot water before quickly retracting his paws.
He saw Lily slowly enter so he did the same only to feel a quick burn before his entire body relaxed. The next second grey was floating belly up across the small pond making Lily giggle at his quick change of attitude.
"Hey grey you said you had a family? What are they like?"
He replied in a very relaxed tone "yeah my mom violet is my burrow's alchemist and the third strongest in my burrow but is a kind caring lady when she's not mad while I'm the firstborn so I have to watch over the annoying younger ones."
"But it's not all bad I have two younger brothers and four sisters in order it's bumper the trouble maker, tiny the two faced angel, snow the weak but angry one, puffy the glutton, Rosie the energetic one and Bobby Jr the smallest and most naive one of us they all piss me off… but I would kill for them even if they steal my hidden snacks."
"Oh wow, What about your dad?" she asked curiously.
He became serious "he was eaten by otters."
"Oh" was all Lily could say
Lily soon spoke up again "unfortunately I'm a single child as my mother died giving birth to me. And while my father never remarried he is always working to all my mother left behind and Hugo try's his best almost like a second father to me… but I was so excited when I found out my soul rune was summoning like my mom hehe the power to summon friends far away to help for the lonely girl, Ironic isn't it."
Grey spoke seriously "no because your no longer alone. I heard one of my elders say that our powers are like the story of our lives. For the loud obnoxious rabbit that wanted freedom but couldn't sit still long gaining sound of the little dark elf girl who didn't want to be alone anymore it's just who we are."
Lily stared at him "that was strangely helpful thanks."
Grey quickly started splashing the water "I can be wise and helpful too sometimes."
They continued to playfully banter while slowly strengthening their bond unbeknownst to them.
Butler Hugo soon appeared before flos wright in a kneel. "Master it appears the rabbit is slightly claustrophobic and extremely scared of cages to the point he almost broke out in tears, likely due to some past trauma."
Flos looked up from his paperwork for a moment before continuing "remove all cages from the premises and let the staff know for safety reasons the rabbit isn't allowed in small rooms or the kitchen."
"Yes master." Was all Hugo said before disappearing.
