Chapter 6 - Enjoying the city (pt3)

Gyun walked the city market streets, he didn't find anything he wanted of the things being sold. A street vendor selling hard candy and sweets though caught his eye as he turned the corner to continue his stroll through the market. He walked up to the old lady selling the candy, "hello um, 3 of those please". He pointed at what he wanted, she handed him the candies, "thats 8 copper nyangs" she smiled. He hesitated or a moment before he passed her a silver nyang "you need it", the old womans eyes widened. She looked around thanking him, he turned to continued on his way through the market he thought. -Damn I just realized I have no copper to buy small things with, how could I ask someone as poor as her to give me change- his heart hear as he payed ten times what he should've.

He decided it be best to buy an extra cloak, so he can replace should his get damaged. He left the street market and head to the tailor he had visited the day before. He rounded the corner when he saw an interesting little shop, it seemed to sell ceremonial trinkets. But that wasn't what caught his eye, what did was the all red mask with for slits for the eyes on display. "That could be useful" he said as he walked in to the little shop, he looked around and was about to grab the red mask to buy when he noticed another mask on a shelf. It was painted light blue with a dark blue line going over the eye slits. Both these masks were smooth to the touch and expressionless with no mouth. -These are pretty cool and can come in handy- he made up his mind to get both.

He walked with the masks hidden in his cloak, as he head to the blacksmith the desk clerk had contacted. As he approached the building he heard the clanging of someone beating metal, -from the sound alone they seem pretty good-. He reminded himself that he only needed to get a decent weapon to use instead of his signature 'Silver moon' which Gyun had modeled to resemble a katana. He had no reason to expose himself since his weapon was quite well known, he didn't think anyone would recognize since it had been a while but it was better to take no chances.

He had been talking with the blacksmith for a few minutes and they had agreed due to Gyun leaving the city soon. It would be best if he bought a weapon already made, Gyun was fine with it since the weapon choice would make little difference unless he fought someone of the transcendental stage. The blacksmith showed off the weapons they had in shop, unluckily for Gyun none of them was a sword. He looked around, there was a very good looking spear, 3 daggers of good quality, and an extremely gaudy looking pair of gauntlets. Gyun decided to go with the spear and a dagger as well as a sheath for the dagger and paid the blacksmith the remaining gold he had left on him.

Gyun wasn't too let down while he had only ever used a spear a few times, at the Divine stage his intuitive weapon mastery increased and so did his learning rate. And if he ever ran into someone he couldn't handle with technique he could always unseal most of his strength and beat them with overwhelming force.

He went to go eat a late lunch at the restaurant he had planned to visit the day before and used his remaining silver to order the largest lunch he could. -I get paid tomorrow anyway since the Tang family is loaded- he thought so he didn't mind.

The next day

Gyun head to the inn after doing some morning meditation and a light exercise, and since his usual training lesson would attract a lot of attention he trained with his power completely sealed. But he unsealed it to the Peak stage as he walked to meet the 'miss tang', today he also wore a cloak with a hood on top of his black clothes he'd bought from the tailor on his first day. He wore the hood low as it hid most of his face and he used qi sense to make up for the fact he couldn't see anything with the hood that low. Something he'd mastered during his time in the cave, the innkeeper noticed him again. Before the innkeeper could say anything Gyun spoke. "I'm here to meet the guest on the second floor" he didn't wait for answer as headed to the stairs that were blocked off.

He walked up the stairs and with his qi sense he swept the area with qi sense he had full 360 awareness. He noticed the beautiful black haired woman sitting at a table with a muscular older looking man standing guard behind her. Gyun smiled as he noticed that Kwak Doosik was masking his presence behind him in an attempt to hid from him. -I'll let him believe for now, but this woman she looks around her early twenties. As well as a advanced level peak stage martial artist and the granddaughter of the Tang patriarch, combined with her looks theres a high chance she's got the title of phoenix-. He did these deductions quickly as he walked to sit at the chair across from miss tang. As he approached he decided to test his theory "are you the poison phoenix" he decided to go with the most generic sounding name for a Tang with the title of phoenix.

The woman smirked and spoke with a haughty tone "I am, is there a problem". Gyun was mildly surprised at how it was the exact same as the girls mother when he'd met her almost a decade and a half ago on a mercenary commission. "If I remember correctly wasn't your mother also the poison phoenix, don't tell me titles are passed down now". He decided he'd make a light jab at her for being arrogant, but it looked like she took it personal as she clenched her fists which were gloved. As she looked at him with anger in his eyes, as the guard also tightened his posture and clasped his hands, -dang can't even take a joke-. He sat down and calmly sipped his tea "so I asked for compensation do you have it, your the ones who caused all this trouble to start in the first place".

She shot him a glare as she took a large pouch and tossed it, "theres 100 gold nyang's in there" she grumbled. Gyun cocked his head -why so much, asked for compensation not for a low level merchant association's yearly earnings-. "That's quite the sum, for just compensation", miss Tang relaxed slightly "of course, I heard your a star rank mercenary so I'd like to hire you to escort me to the Murim alliance for the 'All martial war' ranking matches in 2 weeks."

Gyun scoffed -When I was still active as a mercenary this wouldn't have even been enough as interest-. he raised 2 fingers on his hand "I'll do it for double" he said while smiling and holding back a laugh.
