The huge grin on Gianna's face when she sees Giovanni pick her up from school is a huge indication that she really likes him. She even willingly reaches for his hand to hold as they walk toward the car. He deposits her in the booster seat which I had helped install this morning—the one I took from my car since he doesn't have any. All of this seems so…normal. It's quite strange to see him in this light.
Giovanni takes us to Tony's in Manhattan, a family Italian restaurant that serves amazing food. He's very mindful of Gianna's food sensitivities, asking which ones are okay and which ones aren't. Which I appreciate a lot. Gianna seems to enjoy his company, showing him stuff she made in school this morning. This is so different from Giovanni's persona being in a crime family. This is a side of him I haven't seen before. It's quite refreshing.
