As soon as we reach the station, I get out of the car, not bothering to turn to talk to him or tell him to leave, and that I can take it from here because I already know he'll still be here when I'm done. I didn't think he'd come with me inside the police station, though. That would be a stretch.
So I do the motion on reporting Keith's disappearance, feigning ignorance of the stares around me from people who know Keith Perry.
The officer who assists me has a weird look on his face, most probably wondering why I don't look so worried, so I try to fake it, hoping he doesn't notice. I go through routine questions that I answer as honestly as I can—obviously leaving out parts I'm not supposed to inform a cop about. I'm not sure how long it has been since I arrived, but I let him know that I need to go home to my daughter.
