[Chapter Size: 2100 Words.]
Third Person POV.
Kingsland.
...
...
The first thing Jon did was use the stream to wash off all the blood spread over him and the King of Westeros, while throwing the larger man's body into the water like an animal and pulling it out after shaking it a bit with telekinesis.
"I think this is good," I finally said, and looked at the body once more.
He would carry the body to the edge of the forest, then once again began to transform as his body grew. Once more, he shifted into a werewolf, easily picking up the enormous body of the fat man and placing it on his back before leaping forward at superhuman speed from there.
Meanwhile, in the city, the chaos had already begun, as all its inhabitants and visitors were wondering what that roar was that they heard out of nowhere, striking fear into everyone who heard it.
The guards and servants arrived at the edge of the forest, where there was a small camp the king had set up to keep men on watch. It had only been a short time since the group had run out of the forest.
"Monster! Run!"
"We have to flee!"
"He's chasing us!"
Whether servants or guards, everyone immediately ran with those words, seeking protection.
"Calm yourselves, what is happening?! Where is the king and Ser Boros?" Ser Barristan Selmy appeared, demanding explanations as he stopped Lancel Lannister, preventing him from running any further.
"Sir..." The boy looked desperate as he stared at Barristan Selmy.
"The monster... A monster appeared! He had claws, and his face was shaped like a wolf... A white wolf, but larger than any other man! I saw him crush a Kingsguard easily, without Ser Boros being able to react! I saw him dying like an animal..." Lancel was saying while crying to Barristan Selmy, who looked with a frown at the young Lannister's account.
"What nonsense is this?" Another Kingsguard approached as well.
"And what about you all? You had been on that side of the forest all day... And now you come with this absurd and delirious story?"
"Enough talk! We will search for the king immediately!" Barristan Selmy exclaimed, while everyone felt his gaze turn back to the men who had arrived.
"Everyone, follow me!"
The men trembled with fear.
"We need one of you to lead us there," he ordered.
"Please, sir, we don't want to go back! I don't want to see that monster again... He will kill us! He will kill all of us!" The servants and guards murmured, terrified.
"I am not making a request... This is not a choice!" Selmy told them all with a stern look, as he forced one of the guards to lead them to the location. The man trembled the whole time. This was a matter of protecting the king; they had to act quickly.
With no choice, they advanced. In just ten minutes, they entered a slightly more ravaged area, with claw marks carved into the trees, larger than any animal could have made.
They moved forward as blades began to slide out of their sheaths, preparing themselves carefully as they walked through the place, with the men who had seen the creature trembling even more.
Until a body appeared stuck in a tree. The corpse was there, with fresh blood still present.
"AHHH!!! It's the monster!" A man exclaimed in terror.
"Calm yourself!" Ser Barristan said as he approached, looking around to ensure the creature was no longer there.
The armor was easily recognizable, along with the face of the dead man still intact. It was none other than the late Boros, with his arm and chest destroyed in a horrifying manner, as though a large animal had truly torn him apart.
"Lord Commander... How could something do this to him..." Another Kingsguard murmured.
"I don't know..."
Everyone ignored the body, though they looked shocked and fearful. They continued toward another tree, seeing yet another body, and finally saw the king standing, leaning against a tree.
"It's the king!!" Ser Selmy called everyone's attention to approach the unconscious man, but as they got closer and closer, they finally began to see his figure in detail. Everyone was horrified by the king's condition.
"My God..." the Kingsguard murmured beside Selmy, while the old knight swallowed hard.
"Quickly, take him... Take him to the Red Keep immediately! He must be treated by the maester!" Selmy exclaimed in an urgent tone, as the men moved forward, looking at the king's condition—something they had never imagined seeing in their lives. They then began to lift him together, needing more than six men to carry him.
"My God... Who could have done something like this?" his companion asked.
"We don't know... But we must get out of here quickly," Selmy said, looking into the forest, searching for any sign of the beast he was beginning to believe existed. After hearing the reports and seeing the scenes, he was certain that Boros's state was not caused by a man and a sword. Although Robert's condition was a bit different, according to Selmy, who had studied his wounds.
The city could not help but be stunned as King Robert Baratheon was carried to the Red Keep.
"The king is injured!" people exclaimed as they saw the knights quickly advancing through the city, carrying a cart with the king.
Rumors began to spread like wildfire through the city, fueled by the very people fleeing from the forest, and it was even said that the king's life was at risk.
Lord Stark was working when he was also surprised by the news. Upon receiving it, he quickly left his desk, stunned, and rushed from the Tower of the Hand toward the main area of the Red Keep. He saw everything around him in turmoil, with people shouting and running. He entered the location with his guards, and no one stopped him.
He had to ignore all that and pressed on, as the guards of the keep allowed him to pass.
"How could this happen?" He quickly heard the queen shouting as he approached the place where Maester Pycelle was tending to his duties. But Cersei did not seem worried about the king; from her voice, she seemed frustrated.
"I... I don't know! A monster... I saw a giant monster, furry, full of teeth... It was a wolf!" Ned saw the king's squire trembling before the queen, while she seemed dumbfounded by that story.
"What madness is this?" She scowled, raising her voice once again.
"I swear, I saw it! It killed Ser Boros as if it were tearing paper... That monster was real!" Lancel was still trembling.
The queen seemed to give up and looked at Lord Stark with a scathing glare as soon as she saw him, but she said nothing, only staring at him.
Lord Stark ignored her gaze and turned to Lancel.
"What exactly did you see?" he asked, motioning for his guards to step back a little.
Lancel began to describe everything he had already told the Kingsguard. When he finished, Ned frowned. He had heard stories of a wolf that walked on two legs, standing three meters tall.
Lord Stark simply shook his head and moved inside the place. He wanted to see the state of his friend. The Kingsguard did not stop him, allowing him to enter.
Inside, Maester Pycelle was examining Robert's body, lying unconscious. Barristan Selmy was by his side, his expression tense and worried.
"Robert..." Ned murmured, approaching and looking at his friend. "What is his condition?" he asked before looking at the body, immediately stopping upon seeing Robert's state, horrified by his current appearance.
"As you can see, Lord Stark, his condition is not good... But, at the same time, it is stable," Pycelle spoke in a low tone. "He lost all the fingers on his right hand, and... his left hand was torn off at the wrist. Besides that... his tongue was also cut out," he murmured, making Lord Stark look at the ground for a moment, processing what he was hearing.
It was real. Never in his life had he imagined finding his friend Robert in such a state.
"How is this possible? Who would do such a thing?" He could not help but swallow hard as he looked at Robert, visibly shaken.
"We do not know, Lord Stark... But we saw Ser Boros's corpse, and it is as described, as if he had been torn apart. There are claw marks on his arm and chest. But Robert... Whoever did this to Robert... it was by a blade," Pycelle concluded, and Selmy nodded.
Ned Stark closed his eyes for a brief moment, feeling the weight of the maester's words. The truth was beginning to reveal itself as even darker than he had imagined.
"It cannot be..." Ned Stark murmured, stepping closer. "Who could strike against Robert in such a way? Who could be so cruel?"
Surely, this person hated Robert and had shown no mercy. In his mind, there was only one person who could do something like this. There was only one person capable of it—someone with supernatural abilities to get so close, and someone who had already reported, through his letter, that he was in the city causing chaos. Jon had created an unprecedented crisis in King's Landing.
He instinctively placed his hand on his chin, horrified by what Jon had just done. It was far beyond anything he could have imagined his nephew would do.
'Jon...' he murmured, with a hint of fear.
"You know who did this?" Barristan Selmy asked, immediately looking at Ned after hearing his muttering.
"I... I still do not know," was all Lord Stark murmured.
But, as he looked at Robert's wounds, he turned his attention back to the king's maester.
"I do not know what happened... His wounds are still open, but at the same time, the bleeding has stopped. He is not at risk of dying at this moment, but... he must be treated urgently," Pycelle murmured, sounding concerned.
"Then, please, treat him," Stark requested, while Barristan turned to him once more.
"The command of the Realm is in your hands, Lord Stark. In the king's absence," he said, as Robert remained unconscious.
"I will call an emergency meeting immediately," Ned ordered. In the end, he had to take the reins of the Realm.
"You will stay with the king, and Maester Pycelle as well," he said finally to Selmy. "And I want the security doubled. He must be under constant protection."
"..." Pycelle said nothing.
When Ned left the room, speaking to the other members of the Kingsguard about the council, he added:
"I want everyone to gather immediately in the council chamber. We need to discuss this now."
The queen gave him an unpleasant look.
"I will attend as well," she declared immediately.
"I believe that will not be necessary, my queen. The king needs you to be by his side," he said, trying to dissuade her.
"No! I want to attend this meeting, and you will not stop me!" She used a firm tone, seeming to fear that the conversation could put her and her children in danger.
Cersei did not want Lord Stark to bring up the suspicions surrounding the royal heirs being bastards.
Lord Stark saw that he would not be able to convince her, and in the end, he gave in.
"Very well, you may accompany me," he said, resigned. "Let's go. Summon all the maesters and council members," he quickly instructed the guards.
The Kingsguard left to summon the others, while many were already nearby, curious and anxious for news after hearing about the king's condition and the rumors of the madness that had occurred in the forest.
Quickly, Ned arrived alongside the queen, while the other council members also began to appear at the table. They all came with different expressions. Some of them had hoped the king would die, but the state in which he had returned was extreme and shocking.
Even more so, the screams and the roar of the monster, heard by half of King's Landing, made everyone wonder what they were truly dealing with. Strange things continued to happen, one after another.
What would be the future of the Realm?
