Belle and Eli played their roles with flawless precision whenever there were eyes on them. Although Belle remained entirely adamant about the unnatural nature of their arrangement, she still did her utmost to keep her end of the bargain whenever the situation demanded it.
While the majority of the hospital staff firmly believed their passionate romance was the real deal, a few skeptical onlookers remained highly apprehensive about it. Regardless of the gossip, Belle didn't care a single bit what others whispered behind her back. Her sole focus was pouring all of her energy into her daily tasks.
"Belle, can you bring this file over to Dr. Larry in the Neurology Department? His office should be right next to my father's," Eli said, reaching across his desk to hand her a thick manila folder. "And on your way back, I'd be incredibly grateful if you could grab me a cup of black coffee. I'm hitting a wall and feeling a little sleepy."
