"Do you really think it's okay?"
Hiding herself inside an oversized hoodie, Miku asked as she walked beside White, glancing up at him with a worried expression.
"Don't worry. I got permission from the doctor, plus I promised we would return as soon as the fireworks are finished," he assured her with a warm grin.
"If you say so... but where are we going? I don't think there are any fireworks festivals nearby around this time."
"Don't worry, I've prepared everything." White pulled out two tickets and winked at her.
"These are...?"
"Amusement park tickets," he said.
"But I thought we were going to see fireworks?" she asked, looking confused.
"We will, definitely. The main attraction of this park is their nightly fireworks show."
"I see…"
They walked toward the station and caught a train to the amusement park. Throughout the entire journey, Miku was completely mesmerized. Her eyes shone like stars, and she acted like a child seeing the world for the very first time.
At the entrance, Miku looked around in absolute amazement, hopping like a bunny in sheer excitement.
"So, do you like this place?" White asked.
"Of course! This is so much better than what I've watched in videos! So, where should we go first? The roller coaster, the bumper cars, or maybe the giant Ferris wheel?" she asked, her voice bursting with energy despite her indecision.
"Don't worry, we have three hours before the final show," he said, checking his watch, which read 5:00 PM.
"Yay!" She ran ahead, leaving White behind in her excitement.
They started with the bumper cars, where Miku had a blast repeatedly slamming her car into White's, looking incredibly proud whenever she managed to trap him in a corner. After that, they lined up for the roller coaster. At first, she was terrified; as they reached the peak, she sat gripped by fear, leaning her head close to him. But the moment they plunged downward, her fear melted into pure excitement.
Seeing Miku enjoy every single ride with such unbridled joy brought a constant smile to White's face. During a quick break, they shared some cotton candy, and at the shooting gallery, White managed to win a prize—a stuffed teddy bear that she immediately hugged tightly.
Before they knew it, the day began to fade. As the sun dipped below the horizon, White checked his watch: 7:45 PM.
"Hey Miku, it's time for our final ride," he said, pointing up at the giant Ferris wheel.
"Yes!" she replied eagerly.
They waited for their turn and stepped into the glass cabin. The wheel slowly started moving toward the top of the sky.
"Wow! We can see the entire city from up here."
"Well, it is the biggest Ferris wheel in the city, after all."
"I see..." Looking through the glass, she watched the last light of the sun slip away as darkness spread across the sky. "Thank you, Brother White... for bringing me here," she said in a soft, quiet voice.
"Well, you can thank me properly after this," he said, checking his watch one more time. It was exactly 8:00 PM. He pointed out into the distance.
A streak of purple light shot up from the ground, whistling into the sky before bursting into a massive flower of color. A moment later, a barrage of fireworks followed, illuminating the darkness with a brilliant, multicolored glow.
"So, how do you like it...?" White turned to look at her.
But as the sky painted itself in vibrant colors, a heavy weight suddenly pressed down on his chest. Miku was staring at the sky, completely silent. Her breathing had grown heavy, and silent tears were streaming down her cheeks.
"Miku...?"
"Huh...?" She turned to him when he called her name. Reaching up to touch her face, she seemed surprised to find that she was crying. "What... Why...?" She tried to wipe the tears away, but they wouldn't stop. "Why am I... *sniff*... I'm so happy, so why are they coming out?"
White stood up, stepped closer to her, and gently patted her head to calm her down.
"I... What should I do...?" Miku broke down, covering her face with her hands. "I don't want to die... I don't want to leave my sister alone..." She sniffled, sobbing loudly. "Why... why is God being so cruel to me?"
White slowly pulled her into his arms, holding her close as he stroked her hair. "Don't worry... Everything is going to be fine. I promise you, I won't let you die."
Held tightly in his embrace, Miku wept loudly, crying out against a cruel fate she simply wasn't ready to accept.
