When the sparrows burrowed under the dustpan to peck at food, Jiang Hu swiftly pulled the straw rope, the twig lifted, and the dustpan fell, startling the other sparrows to quickly fly away. Yet, some were still trapped under the dustpan.
Caught them, caught them! Daddy is awesome, daddy is amazing!
Xiaomi waved her hands and shouted excitedly. Erlian was also overjoyed, "Hu Brother, you caught them!"
Luckily, she remembered she was still in postpartum recovery, and the child was just born, so she couldn't go out in the wind. She took a step forward but quickly stopped.
Jiang Hu quickly came out from the kitchen with a patched sack in his hand.
"Erlian, go back, don't stand in the doorway. San Ni is heavy, it's tiring to hold her. I'll cook sparrows for you soon!"
Jiang Hu couldn't bother about the newly sprouted seedlings in the field. He stepped on the sack's opening, knelt on the ground, lifted the dustpan a little, reached in, quickly grabbed a few sparrows out, put them into the sack and stepped on it again, then continued.
Unfortunately, Xiaomi hadn't clearly seen how many sparrows there were before Erlian carried her back to the bed.
"San Ni, once mom eats the sparrows, you and your brother will have more milk to drink." Erlian happily placed Xiaomi by the bed, habitually checked Xiao Si's breathing, then called Da Wa and Er Ni awake.
Hearing that dad caught sparrows, the brother and sister immediately woke up.
"Really, really? Daddy is amazing! I'm going to help dad catch sparrows too!" Da Wa hastily threw on clothes and ran out.
Er Ni was a step slower, but after greeting her mom, she hurried out as well.
"Dad, how many did you catch? I'll help you!" Da Wa's voice was full of excitement.
"You came just in time, Da Wa, come over, I'll teach you. Er Ni, help me boil the water, dad will cook sparrows for you right now!"
The two children cheered jubilantly, and even though Xiaomi didn't see it, she was still happy.
Great, finally we can have a bite of meat at home. Even if the sparrow is small, it's better than nothing.
Erlian sat back on the bed, saw Xiaomi's big eyes darting around, and couldn't help but laugh, "Xiaomi is also happy for daddy, right?"
Yes, yes, daddy found meat to eat, so the family won't go hungry anymore!
Xiaomi responded with aah aah, now she finally didn't have to worry about her family going hungry, knowing there were so many sparrows, also very easy to catch!
Perhaps disturbed by his sister's voice, Tiedan also whimpered awake. Xiaomi heard this sound and grew anxious for her parents.
The kitten-like cries and sobs were weak; if they were a bit farther away, you probably couldn't hear them.
"Tiedan is awake, mom will hold him." Erlian picked up Tiedan, changed his diaper and stroked his face.
Xiaomi noticed that since dad and mom named him, they often called him Tiedan, not Simao anymore. Perhaps they thought if they called it enough, the little brother could become as healthy as Tiedan?
Clicking her tongue, Xiaomi looked sympathetically at the little brother held by mom, feeling sorry that he might be stuck with this name for a while.
Not long after drinking milk, he wasn't hungry, just made a mess, changed the diaper, cleaned up his little bottom, and with mom's cuddles and pats, Little Tiedan soon whimpered back to sleep.
The little guy was frail, only eating and sleeping, completely unlike his sister who was always busy with one thing or another, always babbling once awake.
Once Little Tiedan continued to sleep, Xiaomi babbled to amuse her mom until a cheer echoed from outside.
"Brother must have caught sparrows too, Xiaomi wants to see as well, mom will take you to look."
Erlian said, picking up Xiaomi and taking her to the door, which was slightly ajar, not facing the bed, so it was alright.
"Dad, I caught them, caught a lot, come quick!" Da Wa held down the dustpan, afraid the sparrows inside might escape, loudly calling for Jiang Hu.
Jiang Hu hurriedly carried the sack out. Xiaomi's eyesight wasn't very good, she couldn't see clearly, but she still saw her dad grabbing several times before finally getting all the sparrows under the dustpan into the sack.
Great, lots of meat, now mom, dad, brother, and sister can eat lots of meat every day!
Xiaomi clapped in celebration, and Erlian couldn't help but smile until her eyes squinted, "Xiaomi is very happy too, right?"
Xiaomi agreed with an um, of course she was happy.
Erlian held Xiaomi for a while before going back to bed, set Xiaomi down, and resumed weaving a mat from straw.
Although the roof was already patched up, the straw mats on the four walls were quite old, and this year and a half, they feared it would be hard to get money to build a house, so they had to tidy up the small thatched house a bit.
Back when everyone entered the village, it had been bleak for many years; the houses were all dilapidated, and even the two brick houses weren't in good condition.
Moreover, whoever entered a house first owned it. Because Erlian was pregnant, they moved slow, and only the thatched houses at the village's end were left.
But at least they sheltered from the wind and rain, nothing more was expected.

"Could this vegetable garden be planted?" Xiaomi controlled a pack of cabbage seeds with her mind and moved them into the garden.
She opened the package, carefully sprinkled the tiny cabbage seeds, smaller than sesame, onto the ground. Two ounces of seeds covered more than half of the garden.
"If it can be planted, then later wheat and corn could be planted too. Bringing some Spiritual Spring water over, turning the garden into a paddy field, can even grow rice!"
The more she thought about it, the happier she got. Then those tens of pounds of seeds could become many, many seeds!
