"You do not tell me what to do!" Geb barked back. He was far from being in the best of moods—Nessy was in labor, and her cries and wails were driving him crazy!
"I will stay here till my consort gives birth. I will not leave her side, and that is final!" he declared with authority, making the midwife shiver with sudden cold. She obviously knew better than to oppose him, so she simply nodded and returned to attending Nessy.
"You have to push now, Nature Goddess," the midwife urged, her voice filled with sympathy. "All the gods and goddesses have gathered outside in respect for the birth of your baby! You can do this, Nature Goddess."
Nessy, amid her wails, listened as the midwife addressed her as Nature Goddess—her title since the end of the war and the settling of the chaos that followed, because she possessed Mother Nun's will and was automatically the goddess of nature.
