"Heh," Christopher Moore chuckled softly before collecting himself and pulling Ruby Mercer into his arms. "If I didn't like kids, would I care so much about Hannah and the others? Besides, the one inside you now is our precious creation."
Christopher's deep, steady voice echoed in Ruby's ear, giving her an unprecedented sense of security.
Perhaps she really could trust him this time. Her heart had long stopped lying to her, hadn't it?
"Then, will you ignore Alexander and the others?" Ruby asked while leaning in Christopher's embrace, looking up into his eyes.
As Ruby asked the question, her heart was in her throat, fearing Christopher might say no. Even if he couldn't treat Alexander as his biological son, she hoped he might at least pretend for her sake and not show favoritism in his actions.
"Silly girl, they are my children too!"
As soon as Christopher finished speaking, tears welled up in Ruby's eyes. So, this is what it feels like to be moved—by a man.
