Shiro's advance made alarm bells ring in his head. He had almost hurt her not that long ago, and the danger of something like that happening again would only increase if she stayed close to him.
Hurting his comrades was the last thing Rune wanted. Harming them with his own hands--It wasn't something he ever imagined himself doing until now, but he quickly came to fear the possibility.
'I need to push her away somehow...make her understand that she can't be near me...'
Fear. Maybe that was the key. It made his gut wrench to do, but maybe if he could make her afraid of him like before she would stay away.
Rune's arm darted out before she could fully settle against him, his rugged fingers wrapping around her neck.
"Ghgg-!"
Shiro let out a pained gasp. He was using enough pressure to constrict her airway. Rune tightened his grip while apologizing in his mind.
'Sorry Shiro, but it is better this way. Its to dangerous to be close to me right now.'
