Chapter 724 - Chapter 723: A Man Who Can Go Anywhere

Professor X had watched the previous round of the quiz game as well, so he knew that in the timeline where Wolverine traveled back to change the future, he himself had fallen into a deep depression after suffering several devastating blows.

More importantly, due to drug use, he had lost his telepathic abilities—otherwise, rescuing magneto wouldn't have been nearly as difficult.

Coincidentally, Wanda also possessed powers related to the mind. Even if you stripped away her title as a sorceress, she could still be considered a telepath of sorts. This was one of the reasons Charles chose Option A.

Having persuaded Erik and Logan, Charles decisively slapped the buzzer the moment the countdown began.

Team A won the chance to answer. Interestingly, both teams selected Option A.

Soon, the countdown ended and the correct answer was revealed:

[The correct answer is B: Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver]

[Team A is incorrect. Player Erik Lehnsherr, player Charles Xavier, and player Logan Howlett each lose 4 points.]

[Team B is incorrect. Player Stephen Strange, player Peter Parker, and player Pietro Maximoff each lose 1 point!]

Both teams had missed it. Stephen glanced over at Pietro in surprise and said, "I honestly didn't expect you to be of any help."

Naturally, Pietro was surprised too. But hearing Strange's words rubbed him the wrong way. He frowned and snapped, "So you're looking down on me now? If we weren't in the middle of this quiz, I'd show you exactly what I can do!"

Stephen shook his head. "It's not that I'm looking down on you—just surprised, that's all."

To be fair, compared to his sister Wanda, Pietro had very little presence. At least in the Marvel future clips shown so far, Quicksilver barely stood out. He wasn't just overshadowed by the high-profile Avengers—even some villains had more popularity than he did.

This was part of the reason Stephen had instinctively dismissed Option B.

Pietro, still young, carried the pride of youth. He wanted to prove himself, to show he wasn't destined to live in Wanda's shadow forever, reduced to nothing more than "Wanda's brother."

In any case, the question was over, and the screen began playing the video clip revealing the correct answer. All the players turned their attention to it.

The video showed Logan discussing with Hank and Charles how they could rescue Erik. It was clearly a continuation of the future scene revealed in the previous round.

Because the Sentinels—powerful weapons specifically designed to hunt mutants—had been developed, mutants across the world were being hunted and exterminated. It wasn't just mutants—many ordinary humans had also become targets.

Realizing they couldn't stop this with their current means, the remaining mutants had decided to send Logan into the past to prevent the Sentinel program from ever starting.

The background had already been laid out in the last round, so viewers were now eager to see how Logan would change the past.

Those who were less familiar with the X-Men were also becoming more intrigued by Charles and Erik—two powerful mutants.

Up until now, most of the quiz content had centered around the Avengers, so it was refreshing to get a change of pace.

In the video, although Charles agreed to help Logan rescue Erik, he felt powerless to do so. Hank also expressed doubt—they simply didn't have the strength to break Erik out from such heavy security.

That's when Logan brought up an idea. "I know someone. He should still be a teenager now, living somewhere near Washington, D.C. He can go anywhere, do anything. The only problem is—I don't know how to find him."

Given the correct answer, it was obvious that the person Logan was referring to was Pietro Maximoff—Quicksilver.

Outside the video, Stephen glanced at Pietro and joked, "See? Who says you're not famous? Someone from another universe even knows you!"

Pietro rolled his eyes. "Yeah, right. That Quicksilver's probably not even me."

After seeing multiple versions of Spider-Man, and just now, two Wandas and three Doctor Stranges, Pietro had grown quite familiar with the concept of the multiverse.

He didn't need to guess—he was sure the Quicksilver Logan mentioned in the video was a variant of himself from another universe. Still, he was curious: what kind of person was that other version of him?

In the video, Logan had only a vague idea of where Pietro was. Hank suggested using the phone book to look him up.

The scene shifted. The three of them drove to an apartment building. Logan went up and knocked. A woman opened the door and immediately said, "What did he do this time? Do I need to pay damages? How much? I'll write a check…"

Clearly, this woman was Pietro's mother. From her practiced response, it was obvious she thought they were the police coming to deal with her troublemaking son.

It also implied that Pietro frequently got into trouble—enough that his mother had gotten used to the police showing up at her door.

But outside the video, Pietro fell into silence. He and Wanda had lost their parents long ago…

In the video, Logan, Charles, and Hank headed straight to Pietro's room, where they found a silver-haired teenager playing ping-pong.

Now normally, ping-pong is a two-player game. But if you're fast enough, you can play solo—serve on the left, dash to the right to hit it back, then rush back to the left. That's exactly what the silver-haired teen was doing.

Apparently, he also thought Logan and the others were the cops. Without looking up, he casually said, "It wasn't me!" Just like his mother, he seemed quite used to saying that.

In the blink of an eye, he was lounging on the couch. Logan tried to explain that they weren't cops.

But Pietro had already figured that out. Before they even entered, he knew they had rented a car, knew they were from out of town, and had even found time to read the rental agreement!

And while he was talking, he casually swiped Charles's wallet—so fast that all anyone could see was a blur.

Outside the screen, Pietro stared intently at the other Quicksilver. They didn't even look much alike. Aside from the hair color and the speed, they might as well have been two completely different people.
