Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

How strange.

An infinite void, of stars glittering in blackness, was all around him. But the sensation that prevailed, from looking upon it, was nothing but the purest comfort, nostalgia, and ease.

"You're awake, at last!" A familiar voice cried out, from Nowhere. Sounding very pleased with herself. "You've come back to me-"

That's right... He was the prince, the son of the throne; heir apparent to the monarchy of a hundred worlds. And... He couldn't quite remember losing consciousness, but he certainly remembered bonding with a witch.

His witch, now, he supposed. Acadia of the Starry Sky, witch of the Boundary. Whose power, to make and be a dimensional subspace would from now on belong to him.

Cancer Babylon could feel that he was wearing his crown, though he hadn't been last time he checked. Rising up, and floating, comfortably, in the sea of emptiness, he stretched his legs; before checking his fingertips, flexing his hand.

"That's right, Acadia... I did." He mused, under his voice, amazed by absence of pain. The tall, long body he was so proud of had been absolutely shredded, by the King himself. But now, no measure of that agony still dwindled. "I guess I have to assume I'm inside you, now?"

She giggled, forming an apparition of her physical body before him. And simultaneously opening the floodgates, to let light from physical reality pour through. "That's right..."

It was almost blinding, at first; and, somehow distorted. But from within the pocket dimensional timespace, created and sustained by the body of his Witch, he could tell they were above the central keep, of the towering castle Altirk.

Astonished at the view, and still floating, high above a place he had never even set foot on, in all his life, Cancer was quickly getting a sense of how incredible having a magic user could be.

"How did you fix me...?" He wondered, aloud. Still a bit taken aback, but too relaxed to really care about the answer. Slowly, Acadia had begun flipping him around; letting him hover, and drift, till he was all but upside down. "Is this another property of your unique power?"

"It's not," Chuckling, lightly, Acadia dissipated again. No more than a moment later, his view of the outside world faded as well, back to the comforting eternity of stars and colors, on a field of endless black. "but! i promise you won't want for healing, your grace. Now that we're bonded, my gifts are yours, and your body can recover at a higher rate, feeding on closeness to me."

Suddenly, Cancer could tell that they were moving. Shifting through Acadia's dimensional subspace was a strange phenomenon, but very distinct. He raised an eyebrow, at the curious sensation.

"Don't worry, my Lord." As if on cue, his starry eyed witch chimed in yet again, her voice a melody. "Although I'm afraid To say your father is hunting us, I'm going to take you three steps ahead of where the Assassin he sent will inevitably be."

He hummed, considered this, for a moment; pondering on how abruptly all these major, life altering circumstances had arrived. "Well, I can't say I'm all that worried; from inside here, anyway."

"And you shouldn't be..." Acadia practically glowed. Still invisible, to his eyes, The timespace she was embodying warmed and lightened, ever so slightly. He could practically hear the overflowing pride in her voice. "Nothing will ever harm you again. No-one can even touch you, without my permission."

He grinned, a bit bemused. "People will try, you know."

"That's fine, they can try." Her smug tone was borderline comedic, but reassuring. He almost laughed, reaching up to adjust his crown. "Your body will melt away from them, into the safety of my inner world."

They emerged, all at once, with a whirling hiss, back into the empty throne room. The crown prince suddenly found himself standing upright, on his own two feet. To his continued amazement, the beautiful enchantress he had somehow lucked into, was standing at his side as well.

Although, he supposed if she was reading his mind. She would be offended, and consider beside him to be her new station.

Cancer Looked around a bit, to get a grip on himself; trying to get himself used to this new status quo, and take charge. "Well. My dad is still long gone, of course. and there's no other magic user, or assassin in sight."

"It's not your job to look out for assassins, my prince. Or you could be killed the first time you turn your back." The witch of the night sky chided him, gently. "leave that to me, and concentrate on... Well, whatever else you wish. Where should we go next?"

I knew it. He tilted his head, smiling dryly. "Do you have any suggestions?"

She processed this, diligently, and at great speed. There was, after all, a hired hand out there. Who would eventually detect all the magic she'd been using.

"I can bring you back to my old home, in the citadel, if you'd like? It's off world, so we'd have to find a ship. And, my ties to it are all severed, now. Buuuuut... I was hoping to bring you back eventually, anyway, so I could show off a bit to the other girls..."

This sounded all too familiar, and a warm, fuzzy memory flickered through his mind.

"Yeah, alright." He grinned, ruefully. "I guess I'm happy to oblige"

"Then it's a date--" her words carried, light and airy, on a sudden wind; but she was already gone.

Before he knew it, he was no longer there, himself.

As, Spinning around, wearing a broad smile, she had whisked the both of them away; yanking her prince along, back inside herself, deep, deep within. And drawing them both, into a sea of flashing of stars and dark skies.

Within which, they hurtled down, through the floors and across the halls, towards the bustling city streets outside.
