As they got closer and saw them standing in a row blocking the path, Bertha Haines jumped off the back seat directly and then tossed the backpack to April.
"Stay away."
April hurriedly steadied the bike, then grabbed Bertha and whispered in her ear.
"There are a dozen people, are you looking to get hurt?"
"You hurry and contact Maya Mu... or Mr. Smith, I'll stall them."
Bertha paused for a moment, but she didn't listen to April. Instead, she glanced at the few thugs in front of her, then flexed her wrists and ankles, ready to fight.
April, at wit's end, took out her phone and prepared to call Maya for help.
"Maya, we're surrounded on the way back to the apartment, there are about a dozen of them."
A few thugs suddenly laughed and said.
"Looks like we need to make it quick."
"Ivy Norris, right? Miss Lewis asked me to tell you, if you're not smart enough, we'll make you smart!"
"Get her!"
