Chapter 273 - Chapter 273

Whitney has been sitting alone in the room since breakfast, and the kids all left for the picnic. Williams said he needed to get some work done.

She's no longer comfortable sitting around and doing nothing. She's already used to working, so it's quite hard adapting to this new life.

She's still finding it hard to understand how one's life can change in a twinkle of an eye. She never thought she would be living this life. Waking up and seeing her three children every day, as well as William.

Though she's trying not to put her hopes up on that one. He's still married, and she doubts if his wife would be willing to let him go. It's no news that Maria is crazy. there is no way she would let things go that easily.

Whitney heaved a deep sigh and made way downstairs. She would ask the cooks if there's anything she can help with. She's very good with cooking. As a matter of fact, she can prepare both Madam Rebecca and Williams' favourite food.

She climbed down from the bed and walked out of the room. Immediately, she climbed down the stairs, Maria was staring into her face, and she flinched the minute she saw her.

She remembered the words of Jack telling her to be strong, but she couldn't help but panic anytime she's around Maria. She has done a lot of damaging things to her in the past. Even though she's afraid, she will try her best not to show it.

"You have some nerves coming into my home like this and trying to steal my husband and children." Maria said to Whitney, and her eyes flickered with tears.

"There's something you seem to have forgotten. If you hadn't done what you did back then, this would have been my home. And the children you speak of, have you forgotten?" Whitney asked, her eyes laced with tears.

"I gave birth to them. You can't hide the truth forever, Maria. It will come back to hunt you eventually. One day, everyone will know the truth." Maria said, tears trickling down her cheeks.

"That will never happen, I will make sure of it with my last breath. Be careful with me, Whitney. You know exactly what I'm capable of doing. I can order for the death of your children if you continue to provoke me." Maria threatened, and Whitney gasped.

"How can you say that when you have been their mother for years. Don't you have any love for them?" Whitney asked, and she chuckled.

"Well what choice did I have when you came in here trying to destroy everything I have worked so hard for. I told you not to mess with me, Whitney. Now, you will face the consequences." Maria said.

"Don't blame me if anything happens. You brought this upon yourself. So you will deal with the consequences." Maria said, and Whitney was beyond shocked.

Madam Rebecca was right. All she wanted was the money and fame. She never loved the children, nor does she love Williams.

"But what does she mean by consequences?" Whitney muttered under her breath. She learnt a long time ago, not to take the words of Maria lightly.

Grace, why don't we go shopping tomorrow? I feel bad for the way we have been figthing these past few days. I want us to put everything behind us.

Whitney remembered the words of Maria and shook her head. The way she sounded this morning doesn't seem like someone who wanted to stop fighting.

"No!" Whitney's eyes widened. What if Maria was only trying to lure Grace out to harm her? What if…..

She quickly rushed into the kitchen and met some of the maids there cooking. Whitney looked terrified and could hardly breathe.

"I need someone to put a call through to Grace right now. It's very urgent." Whitney said, breathing heavily.

"Madam is something wrong?" Estella asked, but Whitney was not willing to just stand there and ask questions. She needs someone to help her and save her daughter's life. She grabbed Estella and shook her.

"Please I need you to call Grace right now. I do not have my phone with me, and neither do I have her number. Please help me." Whitney pleaded, already crying.

"Alright Madam I will call Grace right away." Estella said and pulled out her phone. She put a call through to Grace, and after the phone rang twice, Grace picked up the call.

Grace has been searching for the doughnut she ordered for the past five minutes now. It's probably stuck somewhere on the bus. She would have to get one of the boys to help her find it.

Too bad they didn't bring any staff. Jack volunteered to drive them here. She was about to leave the bus area when she heard her phone ring.

"Estella!" Grace was surprised, Estella has not called her in like forever. Probably, she forgot the doughnuts at home.

"Estella what is it?"Grace asked but was shocked to hear Mrs Whitney's voice instead.

"Grace where are you?" Whitney asked, and Grace was a bit baffled not just by the question but with the way she sounded as well.

"I'm here at the picnic. What's going on? You sound troubled. I thought it was Estella calling me because of my doughnuts, I've been on the bus searching for it." Grace said.

"On the bus? Are you alone? Where are your brothers and the doctor?" Whitney asked, and Grace was kind of shocked.

"Yes I'm alone, and my brothers are on the beach. I'm going to them now. What's wrong?" Grace asked.

"Grace I can sense that you are in danger. Run away from that place, and don't ever be alone until you come back into this house. She was only trying to lure you out." Whitney mumbled words.

"Who is luring who? Danger? I don't understand what you are saying? Why would I…." Grace's voice trailed as she froze in fear.

"Don't you dare move or try to do anything stupid. I promise you that this gun is loaded, and I won't hesitate to shoot you if you make any move." The hitman hired by Maria said.

He has been watching her from afar. He noticed there was no driver on the bus like he thought. He saw her take the call, and she was so distracted talking to the person over the phone. He knew that was the perfect opportunity to strike.

Grace trembled in fear, and her phone dropped on the floor. She looked by her side, and there was a gun glued to her waist. She shut her eyes and tried not to panic.

"What do you want?" Grace asked.

"No princess, I get to ask the questions here. Now come with me." The man said and grabbed Grace. She didn't dare to kick or scream as she was afraid that he would shoot her.

The man got to the car and hit Grace on the head with his gun. She passed out on the floor immediately, and he carried her into the car and drove off.

Meanwhile, Whitney already slumped on the floor crying. They all heard the words the hitman said to Grace, and now they can't hear anything.

"Oh my goodness! What do we do now? Should I go ahead and call Mrs Maria?" Estella asked, and Whitney shook her head.

"No there's no need for that. There's nothing she can do about it anyway. Don't inform the old woman. We can't have her worried. Can you call Williams? He would know what to do." Whitney said, crying.

"Okay ma'am, I will call Chris as well. They need to know their sister is missing. I can only hope this is some stunt pulled by Grace." Estella said, her voice filled with worry.

Whitney wiped her tears and marched upstairs. She flung the door to Maria's room open and stormed in.

"What did you do to my daughter?" Whitney asked, and Maria's eyes widened with shock.

"I don't know what you are talking about. And please don't you dare call her your daughter. She's mine." Maria interjected.

"Well I gave birth to her, then you went right ahead and stole her." Whitney countered.

"I can see you have grown some balls. Listen to me well, Whitney. What I did today was just a little warning. If you don't pack your bags and disappear from our lives forever, I'm going to do worse." Maria threatened, and Whitney staggered back in fear a little.

"I would like to see you try. If you don't release my daughter right this minute. I'm going to tell the world our little dirty secret." Whitney retorted, and Maria was shocked.

"You wouldn't dare…" Maria yelled at her.

"Watch me then…" Whitney interjected and dashed out of her room.
