Maria's eyes flickered with fear, and she staggered back almost tripping over the chair. She made sure to clear all traces of the drugs she used back then.
She had no idea they found out about it. She shut her eyes in frustration and exhaled sharply. She needs to come up with an excuse fast or she will never be able to get off this one.
"Mother…. I…" Maria stammered.
"Enough with your lies. I will no longer listen to anything you say or believe them." Madam Rebecca, shut her up.
"Mom… Did you really do that? You drugged dad and slept with him just to split him up with Mrs Whitney?" Grace was the one who asked.
"This does not concern you, Grace. This is between your father and I." Maria snapped at her. She can already tell that Grace is going to be a problem to her, and she's not willing to tolerate her anymore.
"So that means you did that. You must have had it all calculated. You made sure you got pregnant with my brother and made sure dad never went back to Mrs Whitney. Mom, how can you do something so horrible?" Grace asked, her eyes filled with tears.
"If I had not done that, you and your brother Kyle won't be here. You should be grateful to me and not here running your mouth against your mother." Maria retorted.
"Is that supposed to make what you did any better? Gosh! I can't believe this is happening. It feels as if I'm in a movie or something. Dad, did you know about the drugs?" Grace asked.
"Yes honey, I stumbled upon it. Your grandmother found out but wasn't going to tell me." Williams began
"She had it investigated, and I found the test results in her room. It indicates there was some amount of overdose sedatives in my bloodstream the night of the incident." Williams continued.
"I found out the night before your brother was born." William said and Grace felt her heart shattered in pieces.
"I cannot believe this! So you knew and still married her anyways." Grace asked.
"We were already married. And I thought Whitney was no longer here, what was the point of fighting about it? Besides, I promised to stay for Chris, and that was exactly what I did. I stayed for all three of you, and I don't regret it." Williams said and Grace ran to hug her father.
"Oh Daddy!" She cried.
Chris sat still listening to everything that is being said. He really cant believe there was a history between his parents and he didn't know about it. His mother had just admitted now to tricking his father to marrying her.
Now that Mrs Whitney is here, his father seems to have found purpose again. And with everything he just heard, he can't say no if his father decides to pursue Mrs Whitney.
"So dad, what do you want to do now?" Grace asked.
"We will talk about that right after dinner. And I think that's something mom and dad need to discuss in private first." Chris said.
"Thank you, son. At least you understand me." Maria placed her hand over her chest.
"No mom, that's not what I'm doing. I just want us to have a nice meal as a family without so many dramas. What you did back then was wrong, mom, and if you have to pay for it, then you have to. I will support dad in whatever decision he makes." Chris dished out his words in a single breath without looking at Maria.
"Same here, I support dad. It's time he becomes happy and starts living for himself." Grace agreed.
"Me too," Kyle added, and Maria slumped on the chair in shock. She clenched her fist in anger, but she didn't dare to show her emotions. She will make sure they pay for treating her like this.
"Grandma! I'm yet to introduce you to my wife, Jane." Chris said, breaking the awkward and tense atmosphere.
"I knew there was something up between you and the girl. And with everything that has happened in the past, I'm glad that you found someone who completes you and makes you happy. Come here, Jane." Madam Rebecca said, and Jane stood up.
She walked up to the old woman and hugged her. Madam Rebecca received her warmly, and it was such a lovely sight to see.
"Thank you for making my boy happy. And I can't wait for you both to have children." Madam Rebecca said, and Jane blushed.
"We are on it, grandma, very soon." Chris assured the old woman, and she was really happy.
Mike watched the scene with so much determination. Very soon, he would be able to present Jane as his wife just like this.
The maids served the food, and everyone began eating. Halfway through the food, Patricia stepped into the dining hall and diverted everyone's attention to her.
"Mike! Why have you refused to come home?" Patricia cried out, and Grace dropped her fork in annoyance, and Mike stood up.
"What are you doing here, Patricia?" Mike asked her, and she dropped her purse on the table.
"Why else? I have come here to take my husband home. Is that such a bad thing to do?" Patricia asked.
"I'm not your husband Patricia. Have you forgotten that we are in the process of getting a divorce. I'm sure my lawyer already reached out to you. Just sign the damn paper and free me from this torment." Mike yelled at her, and she flinched.
She thought coming here might give him a change of heart. At least if he sees her, he would feel something, but she was wrong. She could see the hate pouring out of his eyes for her.
"You both are getting a divorce?" Madam Rebecca asked.
"Yes ma'am, infact I wanted to keep this private. But since she decided that we make it public. I guess we are just going to have to do it her way." Mike said.
"I found out that Patricia married me because she was in love with Chris." Mike revealed, and everyone gasped.
"We all know she liked Chris when we were in college. But Chris started dating Angel, her best friend, and we all thought her crush for Chris faded away. But we were wrong." Mike continued, and Patricia felt all the blood in her body drained.
"She was only waiting for the right time to carry out whatever she has planned. And that was why she married me, so she could be close to the Smith's family and them to Chris." Mike scoffed.
"She even went as far as splitting Grace and I up in the past. Apparently, Grace had always been in love with me. She wrote me a letter confessing her love to me. Patricia found it and caused a misunderstanding." Mike went on and narrated everything that happened.
"What! She even used Chris's birthday as a pass code. You are that obsessed with my son?" Maria chipped in unable to hold back.
"That is why I'm going to divorce her and marry Grace." Mike revealed, and everyone, including Grace, was stunned.
