In a forest, countless locusts were munching on leaves, branches, and even bark; virtually everything edible was gnawed away by them.
After these locusts had feasted, all that remained in the forest were bare trunks and thick branches, with not a trace of greenery to be seen.
In the cleared space devoured by locusts, more than ten thousand members of the Locust Tribe were also eating, feasting on various wild beasts and plundered food from other tribes.
The Locust Tribe had a peculiar rule: except during winter, they typically only build fires during the day, while at night they dig several pits to burn wood slowly, preserving the embers.
Since some locusts are phototactic, if large campfires are lit at night, some locusts might rush into the fire like moths and perish.
