Chapter 20 - CHAPTER NINETEEN: Unexpected Calamity

In the middle of attacking each other, an arrow pierced through the astral wolf's neck slowing him down. Young's blade was already moving towards the place he was certain would end it for the werewolf.

Swoooosh!!!

A sudden silence fell into the atmosphere and the little whistle of the wind was like that of a warning about keeping the calm before the storm as few seconds later, a sound of metal hitting metal followed by a ear splitting growl of anguish vibrated through the surroundings.

Young's blade had connected driving deep into the werewolf's neck but was stopped by a strong force. The freezing effect after colliding with this force was being shattered at a quick pace while the wolf shook the earth with the sound of his growl dispersing shockwaves that caused a valid amount of destruction around them. The arrow had broken of due to the shockwaves but Young's blade was still stucked causing a huge amount of black blood to pour furiously out of the wound. Young trying to force the sword to go deeper had to take on the full brute force of the shockwaves that had shredded the last bits of robe he wore revealing the armor he wore beneath. However even with the blood that was rushing out from his ears and the wounds that was appearing on his body, Young's grip on his sword had not the bit loosened tightening instead with his face still remaining blank without emotions.

Both struggled as the wolf seeing that the shockwaves was not stopping Young tried to move backwards to release the sword from his throat but unluckily for him, Young had followed him not letting the sword go out an inch. The wolf attempted to use his claw in tearing Young apart but by the moment his hands moved, six daggers had pierced both of them, three for each strucking and stopping the attack. Young hand had gripped the sword so fast it did not even seem like he had done what he did. The astral wolf panicked as he looked at Young's face with a little bit of fear. The face he saw did not even make a simple expression even with all that wounds in his body yet that lack of expression gave chills to the werewolf as he wondered how his opponent was still able to stand even with all that pain coursing through his body. Looking at Young's grip tightened more and pushing further slowly, the werewolf could not help but wonder that if he was referred to a beast or a monster then what would Young be called.

A chance came for the werewolf to escape Young when two arrows came moving towards them. Both had sensed the movement and Young had pulled out his sword jumping back and split the spear into two. Because of the force Young had used in pulling out his sword, the werewolf had staggered backwards making for the arrow to pass through the top of his long mouth. The werewolf had wanted to let out another growl but suddenly found that Young's sword had managed to cut through to his throat making it unable to make his sounds clearly. His healing had also become slow which he had noticed was an effect from the arrow that had struck him before.

Young who had landed had tilted his head to his left as his eyes moved continuously to fish out the attacker. An arrow was his arrow which he immediately struck away with his sword. He did not stop however as move arrows followed, their speed just faster than when the werewolf had thrown out his claw as they reached Young just as he had split or dodged one. Young was not in a good condition in any way. He was loosing blood and his steady movements earned him more injuries and opened the wounds further. Also the continuous usuage of the ability in the sword had drained alot of his strength and stamina weakenen him further. Now with all this setbacks, his performance had reduced and he was now hardly taking out the arrows but still managed in making sure that none are able to hit him.

The werewolf however did not share such opinion of hitting away the arrows as he turned and sped out of the place, the ground splitting as he steadily hit it crossing large portions of the land in a span of time that took for one to open their eyes when blinking. This movement had caused the attacks of arrows at Young to come to an abrupt halt as the attackers attention seemed to be more focused in the running astral instead. Young had only caught the sound of small rustling before he could tell that the attacker was gone. His hands holded up his sword in front of him as his body was stagnant not moving an inch. His eyes were closed, he was battered and blody and the pain from the wounds in his body started to slowly show itself. However Young was not yet done with the werewolf as his breathing that was a little ragged began to become steady slowly until it became normal. Facing the direction where the werewolf had ran through, he bent his knees pressing his feets into the ground building momentum even as his legs seemed like they could fall over. The wound opened further and the blood was pouring out faster. He was ready to risk this last move as the purple light beneath his feet changed into a mix of blue, purple and black. Lifting his legs of the ground, he vanished into the distance as his speed had turned so fast that he had made blurred after images.

Compared to his speed before, the speed Young used now was like crossing the air. Everything around him had become slow as his feet crossed the place in seconds. However through his seemly earhwrecking race to the werewolf, he had caught sight of the arrow user in the dark who was on top of the roof of a house. Due to the fact of how fast he was running, he had barely been able to make out the figure which had the shape of a woman but who he could not see clearly as the person had already released an arrow towards the path where the werewolf was running crazily through trying to escape his pursuer while slowly healing because of the arrow that had pierced him earlier.

The werewolf ran in a speed full of rage and was far from his pursuers but did not make the slightest mistake of slowing down. He could feel the murderous aura that came from the arrow user. The woman had a strange ability that could make her teleport herself through the arrows she shot out appearing right where the arrow was. She had almost up to him a few times but was the teleportation was a little bit slow making the werewolf able to surpass her every time. However even with this the woman had refused to stop chasing after him. Although his healing was slow, the werewolf was still being strengthened by the full moon and was only a little time left for his neck to completely heal enabling him to be able to regain his true strength once more after letting out a howl. Although the woman using the arrows was a pain in the neck, the wolf was confident that he could take her on after he had howled at the moon once more. This was the reason why astral wolves were not usually fought against in the time of a full moon. Except the opponent was an extremely difficult enemy to deal with, as long as it was a full moon, it was almost impossible to actually kill an astral wolf. This particular astral wolf actually had just had his first transformation at this full moon and still had to adapt to all the abilities he possessed which was almost impossible to fully display in one night even with no one disturbing the wolf's concentration talk less of when they were people that where about to kill you. The werewolf pursuers could not be blamed however as their kind was known to be simply bizarre and wicked and also that he was the first to attack Young trying to consume him. It was his first transformation however and his hunting instincts had already taken full control of him at that time. However the werewolf had no idea that he would end up attacking such a terrifying being and end up being the one to run away from one he had considered his prey. He was glad however that Young was not able to come after him because of the injuries that he had had on his body at the moment and would possibly have to wait some days to fully recover.

However his happiness was brought to an abrupt halt as the sound of the wind tearing apart had reached the wolf's huge ears. From the sound alone it was like someone was coming at him with immense speed yet he had only noticed the person as of now. With the sound alone, whoever it was was closing in on him quickly and would reach him in any moment. Suddenly realizing that he would not be able to outrun the person, his claws became encased with the strange energy as his neck had finally completely healed. Even at that, he was unable to let out the howl as he would have to deal with the attacker first who was getting close to attack range making it impossible for him to let out a howl to regain his maximum strength. However he had healed quite well and was sure he could handle this person even for a little time.

The werewolf then turned around mid run and stopped himself as he released the wild energy by crossing his hands together. This action turned out to be his mistake as an arrow suddenly appeared at his right side above his head and then the entire arrow was encased in a thin yellow light which shined slightly causing the air to distort as the woman appeared on the air with her bow stretched as she readied to fire her arrow at the werewolf. However even before she had appeared, the werewolf was already in the middle of being attacked as his earlier strike had been dodged and the person had already appeared in front of him with his sword heading to slice of the werewolf's head off. This person was Young and his sword was giving of a very dark blue at the moment as he striked at the werewolf. The wolf's expression was that of shock as he paled at the attack that headed towards him. There was absolutely no chance to dodge the attack as Young's blade was already nearing his neck. Added with the color of the blue energy being a lot darker than before, the wolf was sure that he would not be able to survive if that attack landed on his head.

At that time the woman had appeared and had already let out her arrow which was encased in something that looked like yellow fire as it moved to strike the werewolf at his head and just seen a blur pass by the werewolf. In the next moment, she had landed on her feets and had jumped high matching the wall and lifting herself flawlessly and finally arriving on the roof to see that her arrow had missed the target stucked deep into the ground. She was shocked however as where the werewolf was previously standing was displaying a huge frozen astral wolf body with no head. About five feets away from the decapitated werewolf stood his killer whose sword leaked with black blood that dripped out to the ground from his tip.

Young stood there unmoving as he holded his sword pointed downwards and his eyes closed, the werewolf's head which had now become half of it's original size and frozen with an ugly expression laid in front of him as the ground around the wolf was filled with his black blood leaking out.

The body however started to disintegrated and disappear into nothingness indicating that this was simply the astral spirit and the main person had already separated from the wolf. The woman looked at Young from the rooftop simply baffled by the event that just happened. However she had no time to look more on the spectacular person as she sensed that someone was coming and had immediately shot out her arrows and vanished. Young had also felt the presence of something and had brought out a pearl and threw it forcefully to the ground causing it to chatter and fill the place with an invisible energy.

In the next moment on the roof of another house, a figure had appeared out of nowhere and had casually came moved to the place where Young had killed the werewolf to find nothing there. Everything was normal with nothing showing any proof that a monster had been mercilessly slaughtered here. This man had an appearance of one at the early stages of old age, his hair was completely white and the beard on his jaw was well trimmed. Standing at the place of the battle, his grey coloured eyes squinted as he saw that the entire place was clean like nothing had occured here. A small smile crossed his lip as he suddenly brought his hand forward and started throwing his hand in the air drawing something. Not more than five seconds later he dropped his hand and then a force seemed to envelope the surroundings as what was hidden was revealed to his sight as he went on to comment.

"Interesting!"

The Next Day

The sun bloomed down harshly as the day had reached the noon hours. At the southern side where the huge gate walls of Divini Divine stood, a fine amount of soldiers stood watch for intruders or attackers. Divini Divine kingdom had built huge walls around the entire kingdom and had the powerful protection spell all around it. This spell was being powered by a very strong enchantment hill that laid behind the grounds of the palace causing the spell to encase the entire kingdom. This protection spell worked against a number of beings and made it completely impossible for the demons to come into the kingdom. Although the spell was powerful and proved to be very effective, the world was still filled with a lot of mistery and anything unexpected could happen anytime so the king made sure to equip all the gates with soldiers to look out for any problems.

Some soldiers where place on top of the walls and some in front of the gate. As usual the soldiers would sit and chat when there is nothing interesting to do while still being vigilant of their surroundings. Though they were soldiers, this men guarding the gates where actually low ranked in the army and was considered good enough to act as guards for the gates. Because they were not much activities except for when people came in and out of the kingdom or when other creatures that could take human forms like vampires, werewolves, witches or some others would be caught after losing out to the revelation spell in the gates, the soldiers usually had boring and tiring days.

Today however at the top of the walls, a soldier who had been place for looking at the far distances away with a device that was actually a huge microscope was busy lamenting of why he had to be placed as guard when he wanted to be one that would be on the battle field. He would usually look through the microscope for some time before taking his attention back to lamenting. However as he did look at the microscope this time, he caught view of something rushing towards their direction from a very far distance. However as he looked carefully at what it was, his expression had changed to that of confusion before it slowly turned to that of complete horror as he could not help but scream out a curse.

"What in the hell is that?!!!!!"
