Chapter 12 - CHAPTER ELEVEN: Betrayed?

Young sat in his bed staring out at the only window in the small small room he stayed in. His body from waist upward bare of clothes except for the ones which was wrapped around his wounds in his belly. The trouble he had sensed, he had finally gotten rid of though he knew for certain they would be back. He remembered the lady the man had spoken to in the restaurant. She was the same lady he had seen in the outskirts of the Black Forest and the one he had collided with when entering the restaurant to which they had brushed lips.

He wondered how she was connected to them. He suddenly remembered the man earlier saying something about their princess coming to meet them.

Could it be? Was she really the princess?

But if she were, then why would the princess come and lower herself to be a worker in a restaurant. This was a puzzle that needed to be solved.

Young however had no interest in meddling in their affairs. His main reason for attacking them was because of the feeling in his gut which told him that they could be a huge threat to him and the fact that they had abducted innocent people who wasn't involved in their business.

Tossing the thoughts away, he closed his eyes to meditate as he cleared his head completely and after that laid back at the little mattress closing his eyes and leaving the world, his thoughts and problems away drifting to nothingness.

The night in the kingdom blazed as everyone continuously celebrated for the coming festival not knowing of the dangers around them. The palace made it well enough that the people heard no news of the killed vampires but the security had been tightened in a way it would not be too obvious to the people.

In an open field that had no houses only but a little trees, many people had gathered here staying in groups as everyone celebrated in their own way. Though not everyone, most of the people were smiling and laughing in an attempt to push away the thoughts of all the bad things that happened all around them.

From the former was Young who had also come over to the place though he didn't expect the place to be filled.

However, he did not join in their celebration instead he was sitting on the highest branch of the tallest tree in the entire field, the leaves blocking him from the people below. In few steps away from the tree was a river of which he looked at enjoying the calmness it released even at the noise that went on below him. The river was the only one in the entire kingdom and seemed to be a weak point as enemy kingdoms or other creatures could come into the kingdom through the river. However knowing that, the palace had made the river one of the most protected place in the entire kingdom and one who did not know what lied ahead would be a huge victim to the danger.

While Young watched the river quietly, below him gathered a few steps away from the tree was a few people who had made a fire around them. It was quite a large number as the people could be seen staring attentively at the old man who told mesmerizing stories that put them in awe. In this group, where Hakira and her friends, Elena, Finn, Barbara, Valdo and some others. The man who was telling the story was no other than her neighbor the old man Lan whose family was also present in the gathering. They shared foods and drinks amongst themselves with some even going as far as giving gifts to others who they considered special. Everyone was lifely well except for one person who had a smile on her face while her insides was in distress.

Hakira was trying hard to figure out what happened to the vampires. Because the kingdom had put a good measure in making sure the people heard nothing of the dead vampires, no one knew what had happened and that worried Hakira. Knowing the vampires nature and the one who had come over who was usually crazier than the rest, she was scared that they might have gone and done the worse.

As soon as she had closed from her work, Hakira had rushed over to the place with what they wanted expecting anything even though she was ready to fight them but was disappointed as she only came across a few people who the vampires had taken hostage who as expected knew nothing of what happened. They did not even know that they had been kidnapped by blood sucking monsters and had just gone away. When she had reached the place, it was quite a mess and the evidence of a fight was still clear at that time making her come to the decision that the vampires were probably caught and fought their way out.

That was what even troubled her the most. The vampires although not all were known to be a little crazy and thinking of the one who had came, he was even worse. 'This is bad, this is very bad.' She thought.

At least she was a little grateful for everyone's attention being on the story and none being on her. That was how mesmerizing old man Lan's stories were.

A while later, The man's story came to an end and everyone was quiet at the shocking story which was of men who went out to search for something and in the process gained a lot of experience from the things they went through. The adventures seemed exaggerated and they would have not believed him if not for him claiming it a true life story and also with the fact that with the way the world was now that those kind of things could be possible.

Clapping followed afterwards and the people were quite pleased at the awesome tale. At that moment after the clapping had died down, someone had brought up the suggestion to sing and dance. Not even waiting for the others approval, the person had already started the song and slowly people sang along with some even clapping and hitting the ground to make out beats. The entire atmosphere became more lively jolting Hakira from her long distressful thoughts. Seeing how some of the people mostly the women stood up and danced with smiles and laughter, Hakira decide to keep her worries behind her for the night and just have fun with her friends.

Elena had eventually dragged her along to join the ladies as they danced along the song. From one song to another the people sang and danced forgetting the problems that the world faced at the moment only trying to enjoy themselves even if it was just for a while.

Young who had decided to resign and go back to the inn to sleep had climbed down of the tree landing without a sound made. Even if it did, the sound would have been drowned out by the loud voices of the people who sang and danced a distance away. He watched them as he moved past the group of people with the intention of going back to his room but had stopped in his tracks as his eyes came across someone who he had . meant earlier and had led him to the event that had happened earlier.

In the midst of the ladies and few men who were dancing stood the one human who always seemed to have an effect on him every time he set his eyes on her. He watched as her feets gracefully tapped on the ground as her hands were raised a little and she moved her waist smoothly and beautifully making all men who saw her mesmerized.

His gaze however was just on her face which had a small smile showing of a little teeth making her face glow and become more beautiful as she danced along side her friends. He knew not why but he had a difficult time looking away from her not only because of what her presence did to him but also because of the things he had learned today which seemed to be connected to her. The way he saw it, she had a very big secret which might cause disaster for a lot of people. Then there was also the other reason that could have been the princess the vampires spoke of. At the expense of his thoughts, he hadn't realized that the lady was looking back at him and seemed to have stopped dancing. When he did however, he continued on looking back at her trying to figure out what type of person she was.

Hakira had been dancing for a while, the dance helping her relax from her earlier worries when she had felt an immense stare. It was ridiculous thing as people seemed to be staring at her occasionally yet she could tell that this was different. Her body had suddenly gone hot and the hair on her body stood. Immediately she had stopped to see who it was that looked at her like that only for her gaze to land on the man who had made her almost lose her breath at the sight of him. The beautiful man from earlier stood at a distance away from her yet his eyes were firmly on her. She didn't know how to react to his stare which made her feel like it was touching her. She had frozen, her legs unable to move and continue her dancing at the intense feeling his stare gave her. She was dumbstruck and her heartbeat became faster. It was a little bit frightening the effect he had on her at just a glance making her wonder how it would have been if he were to walk over and touch her. Only the thought made her throat dry as she prayed her wishful thought would become a reality. However she was disappointed as he had simply turned and walked away making her almost grunt at his behaviour.

"Hmmm, what am I seeing huh? He is one fine looking man, is he not my friend?" Elena teasing woke her up from her daydream which earned Elena a glare.

"Let's continue dancing please." Hakira begged not in the mood for her friend's chatter.

Thankfully her friend had not pushed the matter further and they had both continued dancing. However, Hakira's mind was once more filled with thoughts no longer about the vampires and troubles they could cause but instead of the mysterious beautiful man who had stole her breath away.

Where as the kingdom was in celebration the next morning as the day of the festival had finally arrived, it wasn't the same for a certain group of people who sat on a table who were in a meeting and who majority of them had frowns on their faces.

Inside the palace in a room, ten people sat at a round table discussing on a matter of the event of the two dead bodies found in the palace. At the table were all the people who had played major roles of the development of the kingdom, Divini Divine.

Divini Divine was a kingdom shared into eight states who worked together in ensuring the prosperity of the kingdom. At the table, all the present leaders of the states were present which were the King Splinter, Callaghan, Lenny, Adam, Gretha, Randall, Falcon and Nelly.

Apart from them also sitting at the table where the kingdoms general Gerald and the last the great Enchanter Azezul.

A serious meeting was about to take place concerning the troubling event of the palace guards finding two dead vampires in their doorsteps with no clue as to who had been able to kill them and put them right there without anyone seeing or noticing anything.

"This is a little bit strange." Adam, governor of the fourth state spoke up, his brown eyes almost fully closed with his hands on his beard which was in his chin as he tried to figure out something. "The protection on the entire kingdom is well and working, so how did they manage to get in and if they were already inside a long time ago then why now?"

"It seems you are not taking your job seriously Azezul." Falcon scorned at him with a look of disdain.

"I am sure that your ears have not lost it's hearing Falcon, or is it that your head still find it hard to comprehend the situation." Azezul lashed back at him calmly.

"You...."

"Enough both of you." The king's voice silenced both immediately. "We have a serious matter on our hands so I will not entertain such childish behavior."

"We have not had our kingdom protection breached in more than seventy years." Gretha, one of the two women present and leader of the fifth state spoke. "Do you think perhaps the spell is fading out?"

"No, the spell is strong and well." Azezul assured. "It will not break for probably two hundred more years."

"Then how did this become possible." Falcon taunted him once more.

"The situation is complicated."

"Indeed it is." Callaghan spoke for the first time."They certainly have no means to get past the revelation in the gates. Not even demons have the means."

"They could not also come through the ground like the sand eating dwarves who had managed to do so seventy years ago for you, Azezul made sure to also put another sort of enchantment to prevent that as well which is just as powerful as the spell protecting the entire kingdom, I having witnessed that with my own eyes."

"They could have not been able to come from the river seeing as the spell there is even more powerful than the other two." Nelly added, her expression clearly showing her frustration.

"Do you suggest they vanished into the kingdom?" Adam asked with his eyebrow raised.

"That is impossible, even Azezul do not have the ability to do that despite all the magic he performs." Falcon spoke again. Both he and Azezul was of the same age and they had never had much liking of each other.

"Yes I am not able to do such a thing, Falcon." Azezul lips curved up in a smirk at his next words. "Do you perhaps have the answer to the question on everyone's minds seeing as you seem confident in your words."

"How am I supposed to know that? I am no wizard like you are?" Falcon fired back.

The others at the table signed at the both men behaviours. The both of them when at their bickering made it hard for everyone to believe that they were the oldest people in the room. They had always been a pain at each other's backs since they were little and their dislike for each other had not faded since then.

"Seeing as everyone are giving me the same obvious suggestions, I am forced to believe that no one has any solution to the matter." Splinter's voice came out a little harsher than expected causing everyone to focus their attention on finding possible answers to the problem except for Falcon who still sent glares at Azezul.

"I do think I have the answer to this, your majesty." Azezul spoke up after a while of the table being quiet causing all to look at him.

"Well, speak what it is you seem to think the answer to this dilema and stop wasting our time." Falcon lashed at him once again which earned him a glare from both Azezul and Splinter the king shutting him up before he spoke further.

"Indeed it is impossible for one who is outside to be able to vanish inside the kingdom because the spell does not allow it." Azezul paused a little searching everyone's faces as he was about to say his next words.

"However it is possible for them to be teleported inside the kingdom if the spell to do so is from the inside which brings us to our next question."

"Who is the one who betrayed us by doing so?"
