The light rain outside gradually turned into a downpour. Polly Sutton busied herself inside and out, clearing a small space on the balcony, setting up a little table with red wine, candles, then dashing to the kitchen to grab some snacks from the fridge.
Victor Parker leaned back, watching her bustle around, and let her pull him over to sit in the small haven she had put together.
"Look, doesn't this count as leaning against the railing, listening to the sound of rain, and lightly gazing at the road of life, with all grudges and feuds becoming unimportant?" Polly Sutton beamed at Victor Parker, reaching out to tug at the corner of his mouth, "Smile a bit."
Victor grabbed Polly Sutton's hand but didn't let go right away, "You're not allowed to drink."
Polly suddenly yanked her hand back, picked up her wine glass, and pursed her lips, "Feeding a dog with good intentions, now not even allowed to drink."
Unallowed to drink, she insisted on drinking!
