"What exactly did you do?" Mason Rook demanded angrily.

The fire was blue, not the yellow flames typical of burning wood, and it spread rapidly. It didn't seem like a normal fire at all.

"This ideal setting nestled between mountains and sea, this place rich in aromatic wood—wasn't this how you planned to burn the Rook Family's estate?" Polly Sutton could hear Lucas Quinn shouting outside, telling them not to use water. In this situation, using water would only accelerate the fire, swallowing everything faster.

The beams crackled as they burned. Polly Sutton watched as Mason Rook repeatedly attempted to flee, but the fundamental difference between burning gas and burning wood was that the flames were a pale blue, with a colorless outer rim and a higher temperature than wood fires.

Mason Rook continued to struggle, while Polly Sutton had already resigned herself to perishing in the blaze. Watching Mason's desperate fight, she gradually lost consciousness.
