The morning light hit the beams of the house, and the sound of the drum marked the opening of the door.
Located at the innermost part of the alley, the Wang Family Private School once again resounded with the sound of reading.
The families in the same alley were already used to this. A few mischievous children dashed out of their homes, running with nimble steps to the school gate, gazing curiously inside.
Some bold little ones even snuck up to the windowsill of the classroom, tiptoeing furtively to peek through the open window, and soon being captivated by the teacher's lesson.
Without realizing it, they forgot the passage of time.
At the podium, Wang Chen picked up a brush, dipped it in lime water, and wrote the character "山" (mountain) on the homemade blackboard.
"This character is pronounced 'shan,' meaning mountain, like the mountains and rivers."
