Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Watching My Fiancé and My Sister Flirt

A few days later, Lorraine Hughes received an invitation to Old Lucas's grand birthday banquet in Cloud City.

Old Lucas had some connections with her late mother.

In her previous life, although she managed to escape after being imprisoned, she was disfigured.

It was Annabelle Hughes who urged her to attend this banquet, even giving her a high-end dress, putting makeup on her, and accompanying her to the event.

In the end, her dress ripped at the banquet, she was splashed with makeup remover, the Summers Family took the opportunity to call off the engagement, and she became the laughingstock of all of Cloud City.

She remembered that at the time she didn't receive a personal invitation from Old Lucas; it was Annabelle Hughes who took her, showing the Hughes Family's invitation!

Lorraine Hughes suddenly sneered, grabbed her keys, and walked out.

Half an hour later, a motorcycle made a beautiful tail flick, kicking up a cloud of dust, and stopped outside the Lucas Family villa.

Lorraine Hughes was dressed in a white T-shirt, cargo pants, and Martin boots, her long legs slim and straight. She took off her helmet, her black hair waving in the wind, revealing exquisite and beautiful facial features, her doe-like eyes slightly downcast, appearing particularly indifferent.

At the gate of the Lucas Family, Grace Ann's parents were exchanging pleasantries with the newly arrived Summers Family.

Lorraine Hughes passed by them without a sideways glance.

"Sister?" Grace Ann thought she was mistaken and immediately called out to Lorraine Hughes, looking surprised, "Why are you here? And dressed like that?"

Each of the arriving socialites was dressed in high-end gowns, with exquisite makeup, not appearing casual at all.

Yet she had to admit that Lorraine Hughes, in such attire, was truly stunning.

Mr. Hughes looked over, his anger surging instantly, "What are you doing here! Go home at once, isn't it enough that you've embarrassed me?"

Mrs. Hughes tried to calm Mr. Hughes, striving to maintain her facade of sincerely loving her stepdaughter, "Don't be like this, I'll take her back to change into an evening gown."

Delay on the way, picking out a dress, doing makeup, spending more time, she guaranteed Lorraine Hughes wouldn't make it to the banquet!

By then, all the spotlight would be on her Annabelle!

"Yes, sister, please go back with mom first, you can't enter the banquet without wearing an evening gown." Grace Ann's tone was gentle, but her hand unhesitatingly linked with Haley Summers's arm, asserting her claim.

Sure enough, the moment Grace Ann spoke, Mrs. Summers and Haley Summers's expressions changed.

A woman who didn't even know the basic etiquette of wearing a gown to a birthday banquet was dreaming of marrying into the Summers Family, it was a joke!

Lorraine Hughes paused slightly in her steps, turned to say nonchalantly, "Who said I was going in with you?"

She slowly pulled a gold-embossed invitation from her pocket, the attendant seeing this immediately bowed invitingly, "Ma'am, please."

A VIP invitation?! Rumor had it that it came from Old Lucas himself, and few were eligible to use it.

But where did Lorraine Hughes get it? How could she deserve it!

Grace Ann felt like she'd been slapped, both angry and anxious, but her demeanor remained gentle and dignified, she chided softly, "Sister, having an invitation, why didn't you mention it?"

Lorraine Hughes suddenly laughed, "Perhaps I was busy admiring the affectionate bond between my fiancé and my sister?"

Having said that, she didn't look back as she followed the attendant inside. Grace Ann wanted to follow but was stopped by the attendant. The other guests couldn't help but whisper among themselves.

"I always thought Annabelle Hughes was the one engaged to Haley Summers! They are always seen together."

"It's such a cliché story of sisters fighting over a man."

"The Hughes Family's eldest daughter has such a bad reputation; if I were Haley Summers, I'd want the pure and chaste second daughter too!"

These discussions weren't loud, but they were just loud enough for Grace Ann to hear. She clenched her hands, her nails digging into her palms, never had she been publicly pointed at and commented on like this!

Grace Ann looked at the attendant blocking her path, hurriedly presenting her invitation, intending to complain to Haley Summers about Lorraine Hughes, only to find him staring intently at Lorraine Hughes's departing back!

Haley Summers didn't hear the surrounding discussions at all; instead, he was quite surprised, what's with Lorraine Hughes today?

Usually, she would practically throw herself at him, yet today she didn't even spare him a glance?

Granted, Lorraine Hughes had no redeeming qualities, completely unworthy of him, but that face and body of hers were indeed attractive, perfect for keeping hidden away coquettishly.
