"Join the Enforcers?" Phina thought about it for a bit.
'She doesn't have any malicious emotions towards her.' William sighed. He brought Phina here, so she was his responsibility. 'Plus, Vice Captain Virgile wouldn't be so stupid as to try and trick my friend right in front of me.'
"I-I guess?" Phina had a lot on her plate right now. Sadly, most of what was on her plate was that she can't remember anything. Samantha's proposition was not actually bad. The Enforcers would definitely have a better way to train someone than Jack. The thing that truly held her back was Jack and Kara. "What about vacations? Can I go see my friends sometimes?"
"Of course, we're not some kind of marching army of death." Samantha chuckled lightly. "The Enforcers' Exodia's soldiers are just good people trying to protect themselves and others from nobles."
"Isn't your daughter a noble?" Phina understood the objective of the Enforcers, but it was, after all, a military force.
"Unfortunately." Samantha sighed. "It's pretty complicated, but the gist of it is that I don't have anything to do with her and she has nothing to do with me."
"I see...well, when do I get to meet my friends?" Phina was still not convinced. There's no way the Enforcers were not the least bit strict with their members!
"Not at all during the training period, but after you join? You are pretty much free to see them as long as you complete your bi-monthly assignments." Samantha smiled lightly. She knew what she was thinking. Many Enforcers joined in hopes of protecting their loved ones, but what was the point in joining if you could not actually get to see your loved ones?
"Don't worry, the Enforcers provide ten rooms that are protected at all times for any friends or family members, you just won't be able to see them until you finish your two month training program." Samantha explained in detail. Based on Phina's strength, she could barely become an official member of the Exodia, yet her potential is frightening. Her instincts and her unhindered movements within the Laws is unprecedented even in the Enforcers' Exodia!! Her Synchronicity Rate must be at the very least a full 8%!!!
"It's not that, it's just that I don't want to leave my friends for a long time." Phina said while looking down at the ground. It might seem childish, but she was essentially a child. She knew nothing of the world. She knew nothing of the people. She knew nothing about herself. All she knew was what Kara and Jack had taught her. She was like a child leaving their parents for the first time.
"Seraphina." Samantha looked at Phina with an honest look. "With all due respect to you and your friends, if they were as nice as you think they are, they should have no problems with you going away for a little bit to learn about yourself and the world. If they refuse, they are simply stopping you from finding yourself. You are an adult, you shouldn't behave or think of yourself as a child."
Something about the last sentence Samantha said resonated with Phina. She was acting like a child when she was a grown woman. If a normal Enforcer or Garrison member found her in the woods that day, they would tell her to deal with it herself, that is after taking the uniform out of the equation, of course.
"It isn't just that, you know. The Enforcers' first rule is to protect and help. Your duty here will, not only help you but also, help others across the world. From peasants to commoners, even nobles! We deal with nobles, that means protecting everyone from nobles, even themselves. After all, not all nobles are horrible." Samantha persuaded. William said nothing. He knew what she was trying to do, but in his opinion, it was a good thing for Phina to join the Enforcers. "So, what do you say, Seraphina? Will you join us?"
"Can I have some time to think about it?" Phina asked after a pause.
"Of course." Samantha said as she wrote something on a paper and handed it to Phina, "This is my Letter of Recommendation. If you wish to join the Enforcers' Exodia, come back next week for the monthly entrance exam. You should be spared the tedious tests to qualify for the Enforcer Cadets where they train you, but they tend to be a little bit harder on older cadets since you're seen as someone who wasted their potential that could've helped a lot of people."
"Thanks...a lot." Phina smiled with her whole heart. She was like a lost and blind child in the darkness, not knowing where she is, why she's there, or where she should go to. But now, the Vice Captain had been like her guiding light, who left her with no real choices as she grabbed her by the arm and dragged her to a random place. She might still be lost, but she at least knows where to go from here.
For Seraphina, it was a solid first step in her first World.
