Chapter 35 - Welcome to the Exodia, Cadet!

"Thank you for waiting, how can I help you today?" the receptionist said as Phina and Jack approached.

"I'm here for the Cadet training." Phina said as she pulled out the Recommendation Letter. "This is a letter from Vice Captain Samantha."

The receptionist received the letter and ripped it in half. Phina quickly reacted, "What are you doing?!"

Yet, she was immediately stunned when a few words started floating from the ripped paper into the air. The receptionist nodded repeatedly as he read the words made of World Energy. "I see, I see. I understand your situation Miss Seraphina. I do apologize, you do have to take a small test."

"I thought the Vice Captain said I was strong enough." Phina was feeling lied to since the Vice Captain said that she wouldn't need to take any tedious tests.

"Certainly. Unfortunately, Vice Captain Virgile does not have the authority to wave the general knowledge test. While she might not have that authority, her opinion is not to be taken lightly. Since Vice Captain Virgile believes you to be worth it, the Exodia is willing to give you a low level knowledge test." the receptionist smiled. He then said informally, "Just relax, even kids can pass that kinda test."

"T-T-Thanks!" Phina's teeth were practically about to shatter. She was then given her test token. As they were going to the waiting area, she turned to Jack, "What the hell, man?! You didn't tell me about a knowledge test!!"

"I didn't know." Jack lied through his teeth. He shrugged with sigh. "I guess you just have to try your best."

"You asshole, I'll rip your damn head off if I don't pass!" Phina hissed as she was immediately called. She took a different test from the rest, thus, she didn't have to wait at all.

"Well, you better pass. If you don't, you'll lose your only real friend." Jack smiled and waved.

"Please follow me." a suited up man said as he led Phina into the testing room. The Exodia was akin to a large battle arena on the outside, yet on the inside, it was a luxurious office building. There were many rooms with many people in them, most of them being tested on knowledge. The man opened the door for Phina. "Please take a seat wherever, your examiner will be here shortly."

Phina had to wait a little, anxiety slowly building within her. She waited for a little more than 4 minutes. A short bald man with a large brown mustache entered the examination room. Although it was called a room, it was more of a hall. The large and empty area increased Phina's nervousness, especially when there was only one person with her. He spoke in a loud and rough voice. "I am your examiner for today, Seraphina Ender! My name is Lloyd Raider I have heard a lot about you from Vice Captain Virgile! Unfortunately for you, she has no jurisdiction here! The Cadet division's only real connection to the Enforcers' division is supplying them with appropriate graduates!"

'Holy shit, why is he so loud?!' Phina thought as she winced in pain.

"I have been informed that you have suffered memory loss, but it would seem that your common sense is still there!" Lloyd said loudly. He wasn't exactly shouting, he was just very loud. "This test will be testing your common knowledge about Humanoid culture! If you fail this test, you will be deemed a Beast spy, and will be executed on the spot!"

"Wait, what?!" Phina shouted.

"Here is your paper!" Lloyd gave her a paper and a pencil. "Your half hour begins know!"

'Well, fuck me...I didn't think this would be how I died.' Phina thought to herself in despair. She looked towards the paper, trying to find any semblance of hope. 'Wait a minute...wasn't Asenu Domain in the Beginnings of a Legendary Legend story? I see!! Since it's common for everyone to know, they included it, even in a children's story!! Jack, you lifesaving bastard, almost gave me a damn heart attack.'

Phina began reading the ten questions on the paper.

Q1. What are the three Domains?

'Easy.' Phina thought. 'Asenu, Listerous and Wilfer.'

Q2. What do the three Domains represent?

'They are the ruling areas of the three respective Royal Families.' Phina wrote.

Q3. What is the unequivocal right of a noble?

'Good thing I just finished the book yesterday, or I wouldn't have remembered this.' Phina smiled. 'The right to a just trial if not enough evidence is produced.'

Q4. What is the unequivocal right of a commoner?

'Crap...' Phina was taken aback. 'of course, not all the answers would be in a children's book. Since it's justice for nobles, maybe Enforcers for commoners?'

Q5. What is the unequivocal right of a peasant?

'Let's just go with the same...one of them should be right.' Phina took a gamble.

Q6. What is the job of an Enforcer?

'To protect people from nobles.' Phina answered confidently.

Q7. Who's the king of the World?

'...Leo...Adam...Wilfer? Crap, I can't remember.' Phina bit her lip in frustration. 'Fuck it, His Eternal Majesty, King Leo.'

Q8. What are the three top organizational powers?

'I only know three.' Phina shrugged. 'Hunters, which is where Fardo belongs. Blacksmiths for Master Igur. Lastly, the Enforcers' Exodia.'

Q9. How many countries are in the Listerous Domain?

'Crap...the main character in Beginnings of a Legendary Legend barely went to the Listerous Domain.' Phina tried to recall. Elliot, the main character, had only went to two countries. 'I'll just put Exus and Nara...but they want a number...fuck. I'll just put a number...seven...that sounds right.'

Q10. What is the capital of the Exus country?

'Yes! The final one is easy!' Phina rejoiced. The place had been the main place that Elliot had gone to the Listerous Domain in the first place. It was also the city she was currently in, Exar City!

Lloyd took his sweet time grading the paper. He then got up and spoke softly as he glared at Phina, "You barely pass...one mistake and you'd have died, actually."

"Holy shit..." Phina felt a chill go down her spine. She was so close to death, based on a single answer on a piece of paper. "How much did I get?"

"You got six out of ten, barely passing." Lloyd began to explain. "You got questions 4, 5, 8 and 9 incorrect."

Phina sighed in relief, even if she was close, she was still safe. Lloyd looked at her and stood, saluting. "Although I do not trust you, I have no choice but to pass you. Welcome to the Exodia, Cadet!"
