It has been six years since. And yet it still felt like it hurt just the same.
They say time heals all wounds. But this wound was different. It left a scar that would always be in her heart. And like a phantom pain that keeps on recurring when she sees that scar, so was her pain.
"Mama," the cheerful voice of the blonde-haired boy with golden eyes greeted her.
She forced a smile on her lips as she raised the basket of his favorite fruits. She came to fetch some clothes for them both, since they would be staying in the hospital again.
"Mama, look what Uncle Dai gave me," the boy said, his eyes filled with glee even as he showed her another toy robot.
She looked at her old friend and smiled. She really is grateful for all is help. He had been there for her during her lowest of low.
