"I need to go home," Mary tried to smile despite the tears streaking down her cheeks.
"Why? What happened?" Dominus's voice filled with worry as he walked towards her.
"Mom... she has been in an accident. A car came from the other side of the road and hit her... the police were unable to trace the owner," she whispered, afraid to say the words out loud lest they become the truth.
He pulled her in a tight embrace, "Where is she now? We should go home."
"She is at the hospital... still unconscious. No, I have talked with your manager, your schedule is full. There is no way you could go home," she shook her head.
She understood him. She knows how impossible it will be for him to fly to their home country. With his prior engagements... even if he wanted it, wished for it, it would just bring him trouble.
"The manager assured me your schedule would be free after a week. You could join me then. Just wrap everything up from here," she assured him.
