Axel and Charmander began their journey towards Viridian City. Charmander was tired and returned to his pokeball. Axel however, was amazed with what he was seeing. There were pokemon everywhere. He could see Rattata running in the grass, Pidgey and Spearow flying in the sky and he even saw a group of Mankey swinging in the trees.
Seeing a lone pidgey, Axel sent out Charmander, immediately having it use its newly learnt ember.
Pidgey, not expecting a sudden attack, was hit and was only just able to stay standing.
It let out a gust but due to how weak pidgey already was, it didn't do much.
Seeing an opportunity, Axel had Charmander run up to pidgey and use scratch, knocking the pokemon out.
"We did it charmander! We beat our first wild pokemon, let's keep this up until we reach Viridian City." -Axel
And that's exactly what they did, they battled wild pokemon and trainers alike. There were a few close calls but ultimately, they managed to win every battle.
Finally, after a few hours of traveling, Axel made it to Viridian City.
Unable to contain his excitement he rushed to the Viridian gym only to find that the door was locked. He noticed an old man.
"Excuse me sir, do you know why the gym is closed today?" -Axel
"That gym's been closed for almost a year now, the gym leader insists on only battling trainers with at least seven gym badges. If you want a gym battle, head through Viridian forest, the Pewter City gym is always open for challenges." -Old Man
"I see, thank you sir." -Axel
Disappointed, Axel set off to Viridian Forest only to be distracted by a sign.

How could Axel resist the temptation of seeing the place where he would one day become the champion of Kanto.
After ten minutes of walking, Axel spotted some familiar brown hair.
"Hey Axel, just who I was looking for, what do you say we have another battle, if you win there's a prize." -Blue
"Well who could turn down such an offer, Charmander go!" -Axel
"Go squirtle, use water gun." -Blue
"Charmander dodge it and use ember to block squirtles vision" -Axel
A beam of water headed in charmanders direction, Charmander was unable to dodge it all and was grazed by it.
Charmander retaliated by shooting an ember in squirtles eyes blinding it for a moment
"Good job Charmander now use scratch" -Axel
"Squirtle try to dodge" -Blue
Unable to see the attack, squirtle took it full force however it wasn't scratch which Charmander had used.
Charmanders claws gained a silver glow that looked metallic and when squirtle was hit by this attack, it went flying, hitting a tree and knocking it out.
"That was amazing charmander, I can't believe you learnt metal claw!" -Axel
"Well a deal's a deal, time for your reward." -Blue
Blue pulled out two pokemon eggs, one was white with patterns that almost resembled clouds or spots of fur.
The other had a beige spot on the bottom with a scale-like pattern growing from it. The pattern was white but when the sun hit it at a certain angle, it almost looked blue.
"Wow I get two eggs, where did you find these Blue?" -Axel
"Hey, you only get one, the reward is letting you have first choice. Also, I got them from Gramps, he didn't tell me what was inside them but he said they'll help us on our journey." -Blue
Axel stared at the eggs for a moment before reaching out and grabbing the first egg. It was cold to the touch and the cloud-like patterns gave off even more cold.
Before he could thank Blue, he'd already grabbed his egg and ran off, shouting about how he can't let Axel get ahead of him.
Axel stared down at Charmander then at his new egg, it had been less than a day and yet Axel could tell that this is exactly where he belongs, traveling with his partners. He wouldn't trade it for the world.
