Chapter 18 - Combat Class (l)

The anticipation in the air was palpable as Class 1-A gathered at Ground Beta, the massive battle training complex famed for its labyrinthine corridors, bristling rooftops, and ever-watchful cameras.

The students stood in a semicircle, the sunlight painting their freshly donned hero costumes in bold, hopeful colours.

All Might stood before them with all the charisma of a living legend, cape fluttering, grin impossibly bright.

But as his voice boomed, it was equal parts inspiring and instructive.

"Today, you hatchlings will experience a staple of U.A. hero training—the indoor combat exercise! In real life, heroes face not only disasters, but also villains prepared to break laws and challenge your resolve. So, we'll divide you into pairs. Each match pits one hero pair against one villain pair! You'll be given your roles, as well as a scenario you must solve either by cunning or power!"

"And The objective for heroes is to secure the Nuclear Bomb hidden in the building; Ready to be detonated by the villains!"

A ripple of excitement shot through the group. Bakugo cracked his knuckles; Kirishima let out a low

"Man, this is awesome!"

All Might continued,

"Pairing will be random—but balanced so no two power sets overshadow the action. Teamwork, adaptability, and your ability to use your quirks smartly—these will be tested!"

He produced a deck of cards, stickers—no one was sure. One by one, the pairs displayed on a massive monitor above the field:

Hero Team A: Midoriya Izuku & Sero Hanta

Villain Team A: Bakugo Katsuki & Kaminari Denki

Hero Team B: Ashido Mina & Kirishima Eijiro

Villain Team B: Aoyama Yuga & Shoji Mezou

Hero Team C: Ojiro Mashirao & Jiro Kyoka

Villain Team C: Sato Rikido & Tsuyu Asui

Hero Team D: Uzumaki Nagato & Hagakure Toru

Villain Team D: Todoroki Shoto & Yaoyorozu Momo

Others were paired accordingly as well.

All Might clapped, shattering the moment.

"Excellent! For each match, the hero team will attempt to secure a 'nuclear weapon' hidden somewhere in the villain's stronghold, in this case The Building. You may subdue the villains, or secure the target. Same for the villain team: delay, disable, or capture the heroes. Villains, use the building to your advantage!"

He raised a finger, classic drama in his pose. "Remember: this is not about brute strength alone. Cleverness, teamwork, caution—these matter as much as raw power!"

Now , the First match between Heroes team A V/s Villain Team B started!

The fortress echoed with the distant, metallic clang of closing security gates as the combat exercise began.

Above, the digital countdown ticked.

Team A—villains Bakugo Katsuki and Kaminari Denki—gathered in a shaded corner on the upper floor, the bomb dummy gleaming between them.

Bakugo had that ever-present fire in his eyes, palm already sparking as he eyed the blueprints. "Knowing Deku, he'll probably pull some surprise crap. Oi, Pikachu—when I give the signal, fry the ground with all the juice you got."

Kaminari rolled his eyes, arms crossed but shoulders tense.

"Dude, I'm not a Pikachu! At least call me… I don't know, Denki-zard or something."

Bakugo didn't even hear him.

"Just don't mess it up. They're expecting a trap, so we set more."

Meanwhile, on the hero team side, Midoriya crouched behind a battered pillar, eyeing the entrance to the villain stronghold with the sharp gleam of a strategist.

He whispered to Sero, tape quirk at the ready.

"Bakugo's probably figuring I'll go for a sneak attack… But you know what? Let's show him we're not afraid to take the direct route."

He smirked- "I'm going to smash straight through the wall—draw all attention. Sero, I need you to have your tape wrapped around my waist. When I yell, pull me back as hard as you can. Stay ready for anything."

Sero nodded-

"Noted, Midoriya. Operation Break-In, let's go."

With the signal given, a volatile hush fell over the arena.

Suddenly, the villain base's reinforced wall detonated inward, chunks of concrete and rebar flying.

Through the cloud of dust stepped Midoriya, silhouette crisp against the light, dirt and wind blasting past him.

Minimal Green Aura bouncing around him.

Bakugo flinched, dropping low as debris scattered overhead, his instincts razor sharp.

A mock grin shaped his lips:

"Deku, what a grand entrance! But that's about all you'll manage here."

In the chaos, Midoriya's gaze swept the dim room. The "bomb" had been moved—

Midoriya's mind clicked through possibilities.

Then, Bakugo launched himself toward the upper floor in a crackling blaze of explosions, the impact shattering railing and sending dust swirling.

Sero's tape whip kept a taut connection, ready.

Midoriya stepped forward—suddenly, his fingers slipped.

The ground was slick, a faint shimmer coating the surface.

His senses blared with alarm.

Bakugo's triumphant scream echoed from above:

"Pikachu—Thunderbolt Attack!!"

A blinding flash—
