Chapter 6 - Important Characters

"Just as I thought," Wisdom Tree whispered when he heard Oreal's exclamation.

'Two origins?' Rom asked in mind. It was easy to comprehend their conversation.

The fairy Oreal seems to have the power to see his origin based on what he heard from their conversation.

'In that case, it's true that I'm in a different body now.'

'I don't know what happened to me. I need to think about this matter carefully. I had no choice but to accept the temporary fact that I was in another person's body. But at this point, I have to put that matter aside for now. Maybe the more important thing to do now is to calm myself down and slowly think about things that I think are complicated right now. Somehow I have a family that is important to me in my original world. So no matter what happens I will find a way to get back to the world I came from,' Rom thought.

His attention was suddenly distracted by Oreal's questions.

"Gramps, who is he? Do you know him?"

Her voice was soft and small but Rom could hear it clearly as if the speaker was just behind his ear.

From Oreal's question, the Wisdom Tree answered. "Not a while ago, but after absorbing his memories, I can say that I know his whole personality very well, but…"

Oreal's eyes narrowed as she stared at the talking tree. "But?" She repeated its words.

"But right now, I can't say if I still know this child. The reason is the result of your Eye of Origin ability."

"You mean it's because of his other origin?"

"That's it."

Oreal looked at Rom and said, "This human… just who exactly is he?" She said as she touched her lip with her tiny index finger.

"….."

Rom decided to answer the fairy's questions.

"I'm sorry, but I can't give an answer about that because I lost almost all of my memories," he said another lie. Or maybe that couldn't be called lying anymore because he was in a different body now. This body should have its own previous memories. And those memories were in the magical tree's possession at the moment. So he could say that he was also telling the truth.

Oreal's response was unexpected to him.

"Wait!" She exclaimed, showing a surprised face. Then she hastily looked at the Wisdom Tree. "Gramps, is this human… He can understand me!?"

A large bead of sweat formed on the upper side of the Wisdom Tree's face as it struggled to say, "Uh, ha-ha, about that… Yes, he can… because he ate the Fruit of Intelligence, ha-ha."

Oreal widened her eyes. "How did that happen?" She could not believe what she heard. In her knowledge of the Wisdom Tree's personality, only a creature that the Wisdom Tree deemed as its rival was allowed to eat that fruit.

Rom stayed silent as he listened to them.

"Well, it's because I lost to him in our second bout. So as a reward, I gifted him the fruit," Wisdom Tree explained.

"What? You lost to him?!"

"I don't want to agree but I don't want to lie either, so yes."

'Gift my ass!' Rom thought inwardly.

He chimed in saying, "He had bad intentions for having me eat the fruit. Not only did he avoid getting its memories erased, but he also got rid of his enemy's language advantage. A very wise move," Rom said with a sigh. This time he used 'he' in describing the Wisdom Tree.

The Wisdom Tree looked shocked when it heard him. "What! S-so you know…" its reaction looked like a criminal that was caught in the act.

The Wisdom Tree never thought that the young man already figured out its real motives. 'Such a smart human he was.' The Wisdom Tree found him more intriguing.

Oreal could not believe what she heard. She did not expect that someone was able to beat the Wisdom Tree.

She looked intently at Rom. She could not feel any unusual feelings towards him. But her Eye of Origin would never lie to her. Aside from that, a human who could beat the Wisdom Tree was no ordinary human.

"Tell me, you're not an inhabitant of this world, right?"

"….."

Rom and the magical tree fell silent. But Wisdom Tree never doubted Oreal's ability. So, there must be a reason why she asked that. Rom, on the other hand, wondered what was the extent of Fairy Oreal's power. Because she mentioned it, it was definitely not just what her power can do.

Rom didn't answer right away, he pondered.

'If I were to lie further at this point, it might just be useless as well. And if they find out I lied, maybe they will do something bad to me. Hmn… maybe it's better for me to just tell the truth. Maybe they can help me find a way to get back into my world. But, looking at Fairy Oreal as she asked the question, it seems she hasn't fully understood me. Judging by what Oreal asked, she does not seem to be able to find out my entire origin. Surely, her question was based solely on her intuition. It looks to me she was just guessing,' Rom pondered for a moment as he weighed carefully how to reply.

'Was it worth taking the risk of revealing my origin? After all, there's someone with us that can take my memories from me. Well, as long as I don't accept the match, I will be safe,' Rom thought.

He stepped forward and said, "Right! I am…"

The two gawked when they heard him. Rom then started telling them what happened.

After confessing everything,

"So that's what happened… unbelievable… but it's truly happened," Oreal wasn't sure what to say.

"Crossing worlds, huh. Hmn… this is indeed an unordinary phenomenon," Wisdom Tree looked serious as it muttered these words. The Wisdom Tree became even more excited to get Rom's memory.

The reason why he admitted the truth was simply because he had important people left behind in the world he came from. He needed someone to talk to about his situation. It was not easy to hide a problem.

Moreover, since this world was mysterious, it was not impossible that they had a way to know if he was lying or telling the truth.

If he wants to be treated right and forge a good relationship with them, it starts with telling the truth.

Aside from that, he had no ill intent towards them. But he could use them as one of the important characters in his story.

Rom then started taking notes in mind of the useful details about them.
