Chapter 564 - An explanation

Liam took a deep breath silently. He did want to interrupt her, he was simply going to listen to her.

"If you believe that I always had these feelings for him. You are sorely mistaken," she said. "I can remember vividly the first time you introduced me to him and everyone else. I did not think anything of him, I did not know him, I did not hate him nor like him either.".

Liam moved in his seat. Somehow, hearing her speaking was making him uncomfortable. He was worried that he was knocking on a door, a dangerous door to the unknown and when the door opened, he would not like what he would see. That was how he felt in the moment. He was scared of the responses he would hear. The thoughts and desires that would be revealed unto him.

"It was not until I found out that he was from the East. Like me, his mother was from the East and moved to Wyverdale because of his father. That was the only thing I believed connected us, other than the fact that we were both in your life," she said.

"You know in the beginning, I did not love you. I was simply prepared to weather out the storms of life that would come, and I had the feeling you felt the same," she said.

Liam could not deny her statement. In the beginning, their union was not built of one of love, rather duty. The fact that he fell madly in love with her later was what he never expected to happen.

Liam was impatient, her pace was far too slow for him. He wondered how all of this retelling of their history would come to when she began to develop feelings for Mero.

Wura sensing his impatience said, "I am telling you all this so you can be certain that in the beginning, I never had thoughts of being with another despite the fact I did not love you then. I never liked Mero and the only thing that joined us was you and our hereditary ties to the East.".

Liam kept silent. He wanted to keep to his word and not shout nor raise his voice.

"As time went on, I fell in love with you, and for the longest time. I tried my best to ignore it, but it was too hard to. I fell harder and harder, deeper and depeer in love with you," she said.

"I loved you too, more than you could imagine," he whispered.

Angelica heard him loud and clear. Her heart continued to shatter within her.

"Mero was always good. He was supportive, still is. He is veyr loyal to you. As you had immense trust in him, that was what made me put my trust in him later, and as time went on, he moved from a knight to an acquaintance to a close friend, like he is to you," she said.

"He was my friend, was," Liam made clear.

Wura looked down, she felt even more guilty that she had ruined a valuable friendship. She hoped with all her might that Liam would be forgiving and forgive them both.

"So, days moved on, I fell more and more in love in with you, and we got closer and then just when I thought were were going to live the rest of our lives together in happiness. The rift between our world and the Yonder Realm tore, and I did not listen to you. I did not listen to you when you told me to stay away.".

"But I was so afraid of losing you. So, I rushed after you and because of that, I witnessed my worst fear coming to pass right in front of my eyes," she sniffed, her head bowed to the ground.

Liam felt like comforting her. They had not had enough time to sit together and discuss everything that they had passed through in over a year of being apart. When she came to him in the Yonder Realm, he had lost his memory and she had to lie to him to make sure he would not run away. She had to leave and return, and after that, he regained his memories. It was all too much.

All so overwhelming. They were forced to be away from each other. It took him months to finally return home, and after everything he ahd been through, he returned only to see his wife with his most trusted friend. It was so infuriorating.

"I was asleep for three days. Mero tried his best to keep me safe. I cried my heart out. We sent guards and knights out to look for you, but it was as if you disappeared into thin air. It hurt me so much. I could not eat, I could not drink, I could not even sleep. All I could do was cry, because I was so worried. It felt like a part of my soul had ceased to exist," Wura said.

"If not for Nora, Mero and the others that supported me, and Uncle Nigel. I doubt that I would be able to come out of the despair I was in," she sniffed and wiped her tears. There was no point in crying. It would add nothing to the situation.

"After a few days, I had to snap back to my senses, and because we could not find you anywhere, Mero suggested that we go and see a seer, that she might know where you are. Being pushed in desperation, I agreed," she said.

"You went to see the seer?" he asked.

"Yes, we did, The journey to see her was not short. It was a distance away, but we met with her and truly she knew where you were and how we could also journey to the Yonder Realm.".

"That was how you knew where I was," he said.

"Yes, but we did not know where exactly you were, nor your state of mind. We decided that some of us should stay back and the others go. Mero went with me because he said he could never forgive himself if I went alone and something happened to me. Nora said she would go with me, Zuph and Elihu went with us as well while Zechariah and Luc returned to the castle to help your uncle," she said.

Liam listened attentively. He had always wondered how they found him.

"The journey to the Yonder Realm was not easy, but we were determined to find you. I was determined to find you," she said.

"You cannot imagine my joy that fateful day I saw you outside that market. I felt like jumping on you and telling you how much I missed you and how much I loved you. And I did it, I did do it, but then you gave me the greatest shock of my life, you said you did not remember me. You could not recognise me or the others.".

Liam could remember that day vividly, as if it happened yesterday. That fateful day changed the rest of his confused life.

"And to make it more worse, you were with Darla, and she loved you and you did not know that you had a wife," she sniffed.

"I lost my memory. From what Darla told me, she said that she and her brothers found me unconcious in the desert, they brought me back to their home and helped me get better," he said.

"I know, and I will forever be grateful to them for that. Especially Darla, she took the greatest care of you," she said.

"Why did you come to me using the name Lily?" he asked.

"We did not want to overwhelm you or have to explain why my name was strange, or where we knew you from. Mero was sure that it was best for us to pretend to simply be weary travellers on our way and we just happened to tag along with you," she said.

"How did it feel..." he said.

"How did what feel?".

"How did it feel for you to see me not recognise you?" he asked.

"It was terrible, like a nightmare that would never end. I just could not believe that you did not remember me. I was convinced you were either pretending or had been bewitched," she said.

Liam could just imagine how terrible she felt. He did not know how he would feel if she could not remember him. It was just too much, it was depressing, unfortunate. He never wished for any of this to happen.

He did know that Wura had been through a lot. There was not minimal peace in throughout their marriage. Somehow, he felt that it was his fault.

Wura could not tell what Liam was thinking. It worried her, she hoped that it was nothing she would not like, but had a feeling that it was something she would not like to hear.
