Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Are You Trying to Be My Wife?

"You've got some nerve! Why did you climb out the window? You know this is the eighteenth floor? Fall down, and you'll meet King Yan in a second!"

Damon Hawke looked at the woman, her clothes in disarray, speaking in a deep voice.

Of course she knew this was the eighteenth floor!

But wasn't she out of options?

Elara Don opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but there was already someone knocking on the door outside.

Once, twice, urgent and crude.

Elara was startled, instinctively clutching Damon's sleeve, "It's over, it must be Riveras Hayes' people! Gangster brother, please don't hand me over! Otherwise that lecherous old pig will skin me alive!"

The woman was full of anxiety, her small hand clutching his sleeve, showing a hint of dependence.

Damon's heart softened inexplicably.

"What's going on here? Riveras Hayes? Is it Riveras Hayes from Peak Architecture? Why is he after you?"

"It's him!"

Elara's face was filled with anger, "He's a downright lecher!"

So it was lust that started all this!

Damon's gaze sharpened, his lips curved into a cold arc.

"Hey hey, gangster brother, be careful, Riveras Hayes has subordinates."

Seeing Damon heading towards the door, Elara hurriedly said.

"Tom."

Damon spoke two words.

"Ah?"

Elara, following behind him, froze, unable to react.

"Stop calling me gangster brother, I have a name."

Damon glanced at her and, encountering her bewildered and innocent gaze, his lips curved slightly.

Elara blinked, realizing Damon was introducing himself, just as he opened the door.

Outside, they were indeed Riveras Hayes' men.

Seeing Damon open the door, the leading bodyguard wore a fierce expression, "Is there a woman in your room? She's the woman our boss is interested in, hand her over quickly."

"Oh? What if I don't?"

Damon curved his lips with a thin smile, yet his dark eyes held no trace of humor.

"You're looking for death!"

The bodyguard swung his fist, Damon dodged swiftly and kicked back.

The body slammed into the wall, the bodyguard collapsed to the ground clutching his stomach, unable to get up.

He's a tough guy!

The other bodyguards were startled, exchanged glances, and looked at Riveras Hayes who was grumbling out of the private room.

Riveras, burning with anger, saw the bodyguard had not captured Elara but had been knocked to the floor instead, immediately cursing, "You useless bunch, what are you standing around for? Get that woman back for me quickly!"

"Yes."

The bodyguards dared not disobey orders and swung their fists at Damon.

Damon smirked, a flash of cold light in his eyes, and in no time flat knocked several bodyguards to the ground.

The bodyguards all groaned, blood trickling from the corners of their mouths.

Clearly, they suffered internal injuries.

The tall figure exuded a bloodthirsty killing intent, cold sharp gaze sweeping from the bodyguards to Riveras Hayes.

Riveras flinched in fear but forced himself to shout, "Who are you! Dare to oppose me? Do you know who I am? Riveras Hayes from Peak Architecture! Go find out, you won't get away with offending me!"

Damon laughed coldly, and the next second, his long fingers clamped around Riveras' neck.

"Which hand touched her?"

"Uh! Boss, I'm wrong, please spare me?"

Riveras, choked, struggling for breath, quickly begged.

Damon's lips curved coldly, "Is this the hand?"

Crack was the sound of bone dislocation.

Riveras screamed, "Ah! It's not!"

"Oh? Then it must be the other hand!"

The sound of bone dislocation again, followed by Riveras' shrill screams.

Damon released him, as if tossing away a piece of broken waste.

Long fingers pulled out a wet wipe from his pocket, wiping his fingers.

Again and again, exuding a bloodthirsty killing intent.

Elara, hiding by the door, her almond eyes fixedly watching the scene, couldn't help but swallow.

Such strength!

Such cruel methods!

Strangely making one's heart tremble with fear.

Just that wiping motion, why did it resemble someone's action so much?

Damon tossed the wet wipe to the ground, turned around coldly.

His gaze fell on the doorway, meeting Elara's dumbfounded eyes.

His expression softened immediately.

"Spacing out? Admiring me?"

Damon lifted Elara by the collar, seating her on the sofa.

"What kind of look is that? Is it admiration? Clearly, it's fear."

Elara swallowed, glanced at Damon, tidying up her disheveled clothes.

Fear?

Damon squinted his deep eyes slightly, moved a little closer to her, "Woman, I saved you! What are you afraid of?"

"I just... just think you're a bit ruthless!"

Elara shrank back slightly, muttered, "Are you used to such fights, having been a gangster for years? They're certainly vile, but you shouldn't make it so bloody while teaching them a lesson!"

Not only did he knock down all the bodyguards, but he also crippled Riveras' hands.

If it were anyone else, she wouldn't think much.

But this person is Bea's biological father!

Witnessing him crippling someone's hands without blinking, she still felt scared.

"Ha! Are you blaming me? Woman, do you have to be such a saint?"

Damon pinched her chin abruptly, his aura sinking.

Elara's heart skipped, quickly seeking mercy, "No no, I'm thankful! But I'm a woman, you know, witnessing a bloody scene, it's inevitable to be scared!"

The wise know when to submit.

She sure doesn't want to anger this gangster!

Her eyes were moist, looking at him like a frightened little rabbit.

Damon's gaze darkened slightly, his eyes fell on her red lips, his Adam's apple bobbed.

He really didn't mind her closeness!

With a predatory look in the man's eyes, Elara's nerves tightened, she pushed Damon's hand away, "Ah, your arm wound has opened, you'll need to re-bandage it, let me go buy some medicine."

What's this man thinking?

She better not jump from the wolf's den into the tiger's lair!

Better make her escape first!

"Just a scratch, it's nothing!"

Damon reached out, pulling Elara down as she tried to get up, "I saved you today, you owe me a drink."

Drinking while injured?

Does he have a death wish?

"You're hurt, why drink? You're not allowed!"

Elara glared at Damon, chastising.

The woman, fierce in her sweetness, like a small wife scolding a disobedient husband.

Something in Damon's heart crumbled.

He suddenly leaned in, enveloping Elara in his arms.

"You're controlling me? Woman, only by being my wife can you control me. So, do you want to be my wife?"

Want to be his wife?

A gangster's wife?

What's he thinking?

Elara pushed against Damon's chest, "What are you thinking? How could I possibly marry a gangster who talks about fighting all day?"

"Oh? Are you despising gangsters?"

Damon's expression cooled, his dark eyes fixated on Elara.
