DIANA POV
Scott took me to his penthouse in the 12th building in the heart of the city. He was convinced that my home is not a safe place for me tonight. Well, he saved my life twice, so how could I not trust him? We went up via his personal elevator at the rear of the building, away from the strangers to stare at us. Casting a glimpse on the mirrors of the elevator, I groaned at myself looking terrible with my washed out glam, my damp stringy hair pasted on my shoulders, and my small body drowning in Scott's large shirt. When I looked at Scott towering beside me, I sighed at how life is unfair with how crisp he ought to look after all the troubles he faced early on. Eyeing on every inch of him, I could no longer see any signs of 'wolf' in his physique. It's as if he's just a normal person acting naturally, blending in. No more thick furs, and sharp teeth. Not even a smell of wolf in him.
The soft waft from the airconditioning system of the elevator made all the hairs in my skin rise. Being soaked in the rain made me shiver to the bones that I hugged myself tightly keeping the heat that I build all to myself. Suddenly, Scott held me close with his arm around my waist, and his other hand clutching on my elbow... almost hugging me close, holding me tight. There's gentleness that's cordial to my senses. With Scott's warmth, it almost made me feel like I could crash anytime. But, I try not to. As soon as the elevator reached the 30th floor, we were greeted by a very spacious penthouse with a 360-degree view of the city through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The double height ceilings and white and wood country home interior, accented with indoor plants gave a very congenial atmosphere. The modern tropical design is definitely far from his personality.
Going up on the wide wooden planks of stairs with gray steel hand rails, he led me straight to his bedroom. There's a bed fit for a king with two side tables, a reclining chair by the window, and a black wooden chest at the foot of the bed. My eyes shifted upwards at the surreal glass ceiling exposing the rainy night sky. It was unbelievably dreamy. "There's only one bedroom here. I turned the other bedrooms to functional entertainment rooms and storage rooms, so this is the only room you can use to sleep tonight. I live alone, so don't worry about other people", he handed me a towel and some pyjamas from his walk in closet. "You can go shower in the bath here. I'll use the other bathroom.", he added as he went out and shut the door without even waiting for my reply. He must have been feeling very grossed from the rainwater, and sweat from earlier.
With a long deep sigh, I removed my stilettos and placed them by the door. My gaze turned to the withered wild red roses on the side table, resting in a glass of water. I'm surprised he kept them. Opening the bathroom door, I was welcomed with a space full of glass and tones of black, grey and white. I removed Scott's shirt, tossed it in the hamper, and showered under the warm water.
Staring at my fist as the warm shower run down my skin, I gaped in wonder seeing how it's all better. There's little bruise but I can move it freely as it feels a lot better now. It did hurt so much a while ago as if I might have broken a bone or strained a muscle, but now, it's remarkably almost healed. I caressed my forehead where I hit my head last time when I was attacked by William, there's not even a mark now. My mother always give me her healing balm whenever I get wounds or bruises, so I never really paid attention in my healing process. Thinking about it now, I surely and incredibly heal fast even without it.
Once again, my eyes were opened to an entirely new world of coexistence with vampires and wolves. This time, with Scott. This made me fall into conclusion that the big bad wolf is real, and now, I'm dying to find out who he truly is. But, why am I being caught in the middle them all of a sudden?
Once I'm done, I put on the pyjamas Scott gave me. The pants were too loose for me to wear, so I just wore his oversized black polo shirt. And yes, no undies. He wouldn't know anyway. I went out of the bathroom, and Scott isn't in the room. Thinking that he might be downstairs, I led my self out of the room going down the stairs. As I descend the stairways, I was behold by the flickering lights by the fireplace and more so, my heart fluttered at the captivating man who was sitting comfortably by the fire. His silhouette lined his nearly perfect face, and trimmed body. Slowly, I sauntered on my tiptoes closing in. Then, he turned his head with his eyes pinned on me, giving me the most irresistible smile reeling me in. And somehow, in a small part of me with a hint of greed, he'd give that smile only to me.
AUTHOR'S POV
Scott did everything he could to control himself from making advances on Diana. His head was about to explode at the touch of her. He didn't even waited for her reply after sending her to his room. Hitting the cold shower, he grunted on the difficult situation of being too close with his Luna, in his home... and right in his bedroom.
Moments after, he brewed a cup of tea for Diana, and waited by the fireplace. Thinking of what have taken place tonight, Scott is certain that Diana is the vampire's prey tonight after sensing a nagual and vampires in her home. It can't be a coincidence to have his Luna get attacked by vampires in two different occasions. There's surely something going on, and he intend to find out. Digging deeper in his thoughts, he then heard footsteps right by the stairs. Scott dropped his jaw seeing his Luna under his clothes, smiling at him. Her simplicity was too captivating, that he had to drink his tea too quickly forgetting how hot it was.
"Oh! Are you alright?", Diana rushed to Scott, as he fan his tongue from the hot tea.
"I'm.. I'm good", Scott blew some air out of his pursed lips, laying a pillow on the floor for Diana to sit on. "I thought I gave you some pyjamas?".
"It was too loose for me to wear", Diana said, tucking the hem of the shirt between her legs, sitting down on the pillow.
"I'll get you whatever fits", Scott with a fit to stand as he keep away his Luna. Seeing her with too much skin might lead to triggering his imprint impulses.
"No.. Please stay", Diana caught Scott's hand, pulling him back. Scott replied with an uncertain nod, knowing tonight will be long night of testing his patience. "So, you're a wolf", they both sat beside each other watching the blaze of the fire dance on the firewood.
"And so are you Diana. Don't you know?" Scott handed her a cup of tea, and covered her legs with a white quilt. It's a good thing that he always keep one on the couch.
"Me? I don't think I can turn to one. How can you tell?", Diana chuckled softly, almost spilling her tea at the impossible assumption that Scott claims.
Scott eyed on her steadily, firmly without batting an eye. The seriousness of the conversation channeled to Diana even more. "I can sense it. From the night I saw you at the bar in the island, I already knew you're a wolf too. How's your hand?.", he asked, as he turn his gaze at the sparks flying in the hearth, focusing on its cracking noise to keep him in line. Trying to make small gestures as much as possible, he intend to share minimal physical interactions with his Luna before his animal instincts take over.
Diana softened her smile, thinking through the situation and possibilities. Scott couldn't just be making stuff up. Not at this time when she already knew what he truly is. "Surprisingly, all better… Are Christina and Lucas wolves too? And your friends?", she probed, putting her teacup on the center table nearby. Then, she rubbed her palms together, shaking off the cold.
"Yes… Haven't you ever seen your parents shape shift?", Scott glanced at her as he take her hands, then blew them with his warm breath. Once again, he surrendered to his urges attending at Diana's needs. While he's on it, he checked for her injured hand, and true enough... it have healed already. Wolf thing, he ascertain.
"No, never. How would you know if someone is a wolf?", Diana have started to feel used to Scott's touch, as she let him freely hold her. With deep focus and a gaze that seemed unrelenting, she's more into delving into the secret world of the wolves who shape shifts than refusing his comforting presence. "My parents are very normal".
Clearly, her family have kept their identity in secret, Scott thought. And for what reason, he wanted to know. "Wolves have a very particular scent. And so are vampires, and other creatures.", Scott can feel his heart beat faster and his face getting hotter by just holding her cold hands in such close proximity. It was then that he was snared by his Luna, that he cannot refuse to look right into her eyes. Getting lost in her stares, the Alpha imprint began to build its connection with the intent of feeding its satiation. Magnified by eye contact, stimulated by her scent and touch, Scott tried so hard to escape the call of his nature. Clearing his throat, he decided to let go of Diana's hand and moved away from her a little. A little space that he desperately hope would be enough to steam off his amplifying desires.
"So, how do I smell?", Diana got confused and wondered why Scott suddenly became distant again, thinking that Scott may have been just leading her on like how he did before. Suddenly, she felt a cold rush despite all warmed up by the fire.
"I don't think now is the best time to ask that", Scott clenched his jaw, struggling to handle his thinning patience. Then, he noticed Diana was brooded with glum, lowering her head with pensive brows. Something he have no plans to see at any time, any day. "Okay, You uhh.. you smell nice", Scott flushed and folded his lips in a tight fine line.
"Nice? Hmm.. that's not very particular.", she rested her back on the couch, looked down her hands as she clasp them together on her lap. Scott may be getting tired of her questions as he give her short vague answers.
"Your scent is different from other female wolves. In fact, you're fragrant to me. But for a typical shapeshifter wolf, they usually smell like the forest, fur, and spice.", Scott tried not to confess about the imprint. It would sound bizarre for a person without much understanding of wolves. "The thing is, other wolves can't sense that you are a wolf. Your scent is too faint. You are cold, and you don't shape shift. But as an Alpha, the head of a clan, I can sense all kinds of beings.", he said, extending his one arm over the couch Diana is leaning on.
Getting weary of the push and pull that Scott plays, Diana scooted closer to the fire, showing a bit of skin on her legs. "What makes you 100 percent sure that I'm a wolf?", Diana asked without looking at Scott, warming her palms at the heat of the fireplace.
Scott swallowed a lump in his throat, seeing a glimpse of Diana realizing that she doesn't wear anything under his shirt. He instantly felt the heat surging from inside his body, up to his head. At this rate, his pheromones can be smelled all over the building. Focusing back on Diana, her question requires the truth, and it has to be a strong one to convince her of her true nature. "I uhh.. I imprinted on you", Scott finally revealed his last resort, drinking the rest of his already cold tea.
Diana turned to Scott, watching the flares of the fire glow on his cream shirt. "What does that mean?", she asked, sitting back on the pillow.
"Hmm.. The last time you said I smell fragrant, do I still smell me that way?", Scott asked, trying to read the lines on her forehead.
"No.", she shook her head, as she squinted her eyes. She subtly took in some air through her nose, discerning the scent that Scott is talking about. She took in a few more... Then suddenly, Diana started to feel butterflies in her stomach.
"Come up close and smell me then", Scott suddenly held her head and forcibly directed her to him.
"Stop being rude, I bite!", she placed her hand on his chest pushing him away.
"Calm down Apollo, go back to the stables.. in my bed room. ", Scott laughed so hard as he put his palm back on the couch. He got flustered when Diana moved closer, who is somewhat sniffing on him."What are you doing?", Scott sat up straight as Diana close her eyes trying to smell him.
"I don't really smell anything on you.." she whispered, leaning forward on Scott's chest and sniffed hard. . "Oh wait…", There it is again. Diana got a whiff of the same earthy with slightly sweet scent that consumes her. At every intake of his scent, a certain heat came growing in her body, up to the back of her head. Suddenly, her cheeks bloomed in pink setting off the pheromones of a mate.
Scott clenched his teeth, holding his breath. This time, Diana's scent is much stronger, that's almost hard to abscond from. "The moon goddess gives every wolf a destined mate. For that to happen, the two mates imprint on each other as they sense a very fragrant scent. Like winding lines drawing the two in. Once you imprint, you'll be head over heels crazy for your mate. We become inseparable. That makes you a wolf, Diana. We only imprint on wolves", Scott said, as he brush his hair back with his hand, wetting his dry lips as he brush Diana's cheek. Maybe, one kiss would simmer down the soaring temperatures.
Diana opened her eyes and halted at a certain thought. Then, she returned back to her pillow seat afflicted with intrigues, leaving Scott expecting for the kiss. "So, we're destined together by the moon goddess? But I don't think I'm head over heels crazy for you.. In fact, I don't know what exactly I feel for you", she clearly displayed a great sense of self control that Scott is struggling to handle. Scott was left in awe as he smirk at Diana's impeccable will power. "What do you feel about me, Scott?".
"Do you really want to know?", he said in a serious tone, leaning forward his curious Luna.
