Lulu sniffed. She was all curled up in bed, she did not feel like going out or eating something. She hated that she felt like this. Why did she actually feel like her life was not the same? As if there was something... or someone missing, and there was.
She thought that she had just liked Benjamin because he gave her something good to pass the time with, but it seemed to be more than that. She missed him and she hated that she missed him.
Lulu heard a knock on her bedroom door. At first she did not want to answer it, she wanted whoever it was to go away, but Dom was unrelenting.
"Lulu, it's me... I know you're awake, let me in," Dom said from outside.
Lulu sighed, she knew that he would not leave, no, not until he saw her. She sat up straight and said," Fine, come in.".
Dom smiled in relief. He opened the door and walked in.
"Lulu, Lulu, Lulu, sweet little Lulu, riding on the scu-scu with a little tutu," Dom sang.
Lulu groaned, she sat up straight and wiped her tears. "Why are you being so annoying? Why do you have to bring up that stupid song you made for me more than twenty years ago," She laughed.
"Well I brought it up because I knew it would make you smile, and you need a little bit of laughter in your life," Dom replied.
"Oh please, you make it sound like I'm so miserable, besides, I don't like that song at all," She frowned.
"That's a lie, you know that when you were little you liked that song so much, so very much. You used to dance and jump in your stroller whenever I started to sing it.".
"Oh please, don't remind me, don't remind me. I was a baby, of course I would dance to it regardless of if your voice is like a frog," Lulu scoffed.
"Yes, I might have a frog voice, but we are siblings and you have a toad's voice, which is worse than a frog's voice, we all know that is true," Dom said placing the tray he was holding on the bed.
"Hey, hey, stop insulting me, my voice is not like a toad, it's yours!" Lulu insisted.
"Yeah. yeah, whatever. Well you did not come down for dinner and I am sure you are hungry even though you do not want to admit it, so here, I brought your dinner up for you and I am not going to leave until you eat," Dom said.
Lulu groaned, Dom would not leave until she finished eating and he knew he was very serious about staying here all night.
"Why do you have to be always so annoying?" Lulu asked.
"It's not being annoying, it's being caring, so my lovely, dear sister, please eat," Dom uncovered her dinner.
"Eat, or else I will feed you like I used to." Lulu's face scrunched up once she heard that. Dom picked up the fork and raised it to Lulu's lips.
"Open wide, ahhhh," He said. In a mix of anger and embraarassment Lulu grabbed the fork and ate herself.
"There, are you happy now?!" She asked.
"Very much so," Dom chuckled. As long as she was eating, he would remain happy.
"You should be happy that I am not going to talk about the fact that you were crying before I walked in." He mentioned.
"Mentioning it does not mean not mentioning it. It's annoying.".
"That seems to be your very favourite word, annoying. You've been saying it continuously today," Dom said.
"That is because you are annoying," Lulu said.
"Or maybe because you are annoyed and therefore that makes you project your annoyance on everyone else. That's fine, that is perfectly normal, but do you want to talk about it?" Lulu shook her head she took a sip of water.
The she shot him a look that read, 'You already know what's annoying me'.
"You are right, I do already know what this is all about, but I would still like to talk about it with you, that is only if you would let me," He said.
"Come on Lulu, you know you can talk to me about anything. It's even better we talk about this now before we go over to mom and dad's house, because Joy said you will be coming with us on our mini-vacation.".
"And you know that mom will be very worried about you, so instead of talking about it with the entire family, you can just talk about it with me," Dom said.
"You know Dom, I don't know why I feel terrible but... Benjamin said some things that made me realize that the high esteem I regarded him with was not reciprocal," Lulu sighed.
"And now I decided to end everything with him. I'm ignoring his calls, his texts and I don't know why I still feel so terrible, I feel so horrible like there's a piece of me missing, or maybe it's just my body rejecting the much needed change," Lulu said.
"You know what Lulu... believe it or not, I felt the exact same way when I started to ignore Natasha because I thought she was guilty.".
"Believe it or not, it was so hard on me, I felt like calling her, I felt like hearing her voice, but my anger just made it so hard for me to reach out to her. I was hurting and she was hurting.".
"Now, I do get that the situations are different, but Benjamin is a good guy, I am sure he did not mean to hurt you," Dom said.
"But it is said that the first words and the first thoughts are often the most true," Lulu said.
"To an extent yes, but what if I asked you what your favourite colour was and you gave it no thought and just said red? Red is not your favourite colour it's pink, but you just said that because you were looking at that red pillow over there and you were not really paying attention to the question you were being asked," Dom said.
"So, you are saying that I should excuse what he said and just take it as him not taking my words seriously?" she asked.
"As annoying as that sounds yes... I will not lie, as men, we just speak our minds, or at least most of us do. And unlike women, we do not second guess everything or consider everyone's feelings before we say something, we just speak, that might be a good thing or a bad thing depends on the situation," Dom said.
Lulu scoffed and rolled her eyes. It was typical of men, they just spoke and spoke and spoke without thinking.
"So what? You are telling me to just forgive him because he did not mean what he said?" she asked.
"No, but I want you to consider the fact that he truly cares for you. He has put up with you for the longest time, he even saved your life in the elevator. He's a chill guy and I like him.".
"So because you like him, I should forgive him?" Lulu frowned.
"No Lulu, forgive him because he's your friend and friends fight, they have misunderstandings and things get between good relationships, but the most important thing is keeping good relationships because you never know what you lose until you have lost them," Dom said.
"Don't make the same mistake I did with Natasha. I did not believe her, I did not give her a chance and I made her seem like the villain when it was far from the truth. If I had a chance and I could do it all again, I would certainly treat Natasha differently," He said.
"I do not want you to make the same mistake, I do not want you to be unhappy by loosing a very good relationship.".
Lulu sighed, she hated that he was right. However, at the same time, she just felt like she did not need to forgive him, she wanted to move away from him, she wanted to forget him.
"You need good relationships in life, with good people. You cannot live life alone, you need love, you need family, you need friends and that is the most important in life, so find a place in your heart to forgive him if that is something you want to do.".
"And what if I do not want to do it?" she asked.
"I know you, you love people that you love, and I know that you want to forgive him, you do, you just need some time, a little bit of time to cool down. You don't want to continue feeling as miserable as you do right now and neither do I," Dom said.
"I love you Lulu and I want you to be happy," He said. He placed a kiss on her cheek.
"Have a goodnight Lulu," He said taking his leave. Lulu sighed as she watched him leave. They were all giving her the same advice.
