"What?" Louis asked just to make sure he was hearing right, "Iris was invited to the palace?"
"Yes, Your Highness," answered his secretary, "I heard she was sent an invite by your mother." Lord Brown's mother was one of the Empress' ladies in waiting and his own informant. Louis wanted to know the ins and outs of his mother's palace.
"Not Vanessa but mother invited her?" Louis asked this question more to himself. Then he started to brainstorm for the possible reasons his mother would do this? To feel out Iris as he was interested in her? Or to try and kill her like she had done till now? That notion sent him into a frenzy. He quickly got up from his seat and rushed out of his chambers with his sword. If he sees even a small scratch on Iris, Louis would take his mother's head then and there.
