Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

"Boy, you're dead!"

"I'm working for the Lion King Gappa, who has a bounty of 53 million. He's not going to let you run away after killing his men!"

The bearded man had a gloomy face as he drew the long sword from his waist, cold sweat dripping from his forehead.

He was wrong.

This guy just disappeared suddenly, he wasn't able to even see it clearly.

There was a hint of sarcasm on Kaos's lips. These guys might seem powerful to ordinary people, but to him, they were just minions.

He was very interested in the Lion King Pirates. Since he had already offended them, he didn't mind taking them down all at once.

A reward of fifty-three million… that should be a good whetstone.

In this day and age, a bounty of 53 million is not a small amount.

He had just heard someone say that this pirate was an animal-type ability user. That kind of meat shield was perfect.

Call out!

Kaos disappeared from the spot and appeared beside the bearded man in the blink of an eye, kicking him with great force.

The bearded man still had some skill. At the critical moment, he actually held the long sword in front of him to block. However, Kaos's kick was too powerful. His face turned red from the strain, and after only two breaths, he was sent flying.

The onlookers quickly retreated, all shouting and roaring.

Even more excited than the two fighting.

They longed for the taste of blood, the clash of battle, the screams and wails that followed.

"Ahem~"

Ten meters away, the bearded man lay on the ground, spitting blood from his mouth and nose. He could hardly get up after just one kick. His chest felt like it was being torn apart, many bones were probably broken.

Kaos looked at the miserable man's frightened face and immediately lost interest.

This guy's nothing but a silver-plated gun, good-looking but useless.

If I let him live, he can go back and notify the Lion Pirates.

This pirate crew will be the first chicken I slaughter to gain a foothold in Demon Valley Town.

Kaos turned to leave, planning to find a tavern to stay in first. The days ahead might not be so leisurely.

"You'd better leave your name!"

Kaos stopped and turned to look at the bearded man, thinking for a moment.

Anyway, since we're here to fight, I might as well be a little arrogant.

I've been cowardly for three years and five months. Now that I finally have the ability to protect myself, it's time to spread my reputation across the world.

"Golden Emperor, Gaia Kaos!"

He left behind his name and the pirates watching started cursing before they dispersed.

As for the bearded man, he looked at Kaos's back fiercely, clutching his chest, and slowly left.

"Tropical Hotel!"

More than ten minutes later, Kaos stood in front of a large hotel. Even before entering, he could hear the noisy sounds inside—many pirates drinking.

"What do you need?"

As Kaos entered, a burly waiter—four meters tall—came forward with a mace in his hand and a musket at his waist, glaring down at Kaos.

Who would've thought this guy was just a waiter?

Normally, waiters were pretty and delicate beauties, but this one was simply a beast.

"Speck, you idiot, I want a jug of rum!"

At a dinner table not far away, several pirates were drunk and cursing.

"Asshole! Can't you see I'm entertaining a new guest? Just bear with it!"

Speck turned around and cursed back even louder, then looked at Kaos impatiently.

"Boy, you eating or staying in the hotel? Hurry up!"

"Staying in the hotel. And eating too."

Kaos's mouth twitched. The hall was filled with the mixed stench of sweat, cigarettes, alcohol, and food. It was as hot and filthy as a pigsty.

"The most luxurious room costs 100,000 Berries a day."

"A second-rate luxury room, fifty thousand Berries a day."

"A single room, 10,000 Berries a day. Come with me to the counter to pay the deposit."

Speck dragged his mace and walked towards the counter.

The person who collected the money was an old man smoking a pipe—the owner of the restaurant. He looked like he had Alzheimer's, dizzy and absentminded, but rumor had it he was once a pirate with a bounty of nearly 100 million.

Moreover, he was well-connected with the other business owners in Mock Town, and most pirates were unwilling to provoke him.

When Kaos was brought to the counter, Speck went off cursing again and left to fetch the wine.

Rude as hell.

"What price room do you want?"

The smoking boss flipped through the account book without even looking up.

"The most luxurious!"

A lump of gold, about the size of a fist, appeared in Kaos's hand. This time, the smoking boss raised his head.

His originally cloudy eyes suddenly turned sharp.

"You can only stay five days. Food's charged separately. If anything gets messed up, you'll pay ten times the damage. If you've got trouble, best sort it outside."

The smoking boss tossed the gold, placed it on the counter, pulled out something like a room card, and explained the store's rules.

Kaos took the room card and nodded.

"Tris!"

"Tracey, where the hell are you? Take this guest upstairs to the most luxurious room!" the smoking boss yelled across the hall.

"Boss, you'll definitely die before me. When you do, make sure to leave me your property. Otherwise, I'll throw your body into the sea."

A loud voice caught Kaos's attention.

A three-meter-tall, bloated woman walked over—surging muscles, a centipede scar across her face, a mismatched work uniform, rifle at her waist, and a massive axe on her back. She bluntly wished the smoking boss a quick death so she could inherit his estate.

"Bastard Tris, I'll live longer than you!"

The smoking boss glared angrily.

"Hmph, we'll see who lasts longer."

Tris looked disdainful, turned to Kaos, and waved.

"Follow me."

Trailing behind that tonnage, Kaos could still hear her muttering curses.

When they arrived at the fifth floor, the "most luxurious" room turned out to be just an ordinary room—with a private bathroom, a bit more space, and a sofa.

At least there was a balcony overlooking the sea and mountains.

Still, 100,000 Berries a day without food included… truly a pirate island full of extravagance and decadence.

But Kaos lacked everything except money.

After looking around and settling in, Kaos went downstairs again to eat something.

No door-to-door service here, if you wanted food, you had to head to the lobby.

As for Tris, she left Kaos at the door and went back to work. She was busy.

There were only four people running the whole restaurant: the smoking boss, two heavy-duty waiters (Speck and Tracey), and the head chef Bud. Hard to imagine such a big place was being managed by just four people.

No doubt, they were once pirates.

But why they chose to retire in Mock Town… Kaos didn't know.

Returning to the smoky hall, Kaos was still somewhat uncomfortable, but it was tolerable.

Putting aside the stench and chaos, this noisy atmosphere had its charm. It made people forget their troubles.

"What do you need?"

Speck was still dragging his mace, snarling and scolding other pirates across the room. To anyone watching, it looked like he was the guest.

Other pirates were cursing, laughing like maniacs.

None of this was normal.
