CARA
It was almost 8;30pm and I continued receiving guests for tonight's birthday party while the other workers were busy with supplying drinks and other preparations. The faint music played and I couldn't stop staring at the kids. Becca and Bella looked gorgeous in their Barbie dresses, the heels, how their hairs were done and their makeup. I gave a smile after looking at them,they were so funny and cute at the same time. I heard a voice beside me
" It's just like how I thought. You look so beautiful when you smile" I quickly looked beside me and I couldn't believe my eyes, it was Jax!! He had worn his fair black suit (elegant suit) and his hair had a low cut. He looked gorgeous. I was like
" Jax! I never thought you were coming? You were not in the guest list"
" I came on behalf of Mr Brendan" He stopped talking for a while and smiled. He had a cute smile that I liked. There was a moment of silence and awkwardness. He finally spoke
" You look like a queen." He started looking at me from my shoes up to my hair.
He looked at the brown heels of about 4.5 inches , then my long sequin prom dress that had a v-neck and was split up to the middle of my thigh and curved my body perfectly, my waist...chest....neck... lips that had a maroon lipstick...and finally my eyes.
Our eyes met and I was really uncomfortable with what was going on. He had hazel eyes and they were so adorable. I didn't want to continue getting lost in his world, I cleared my throat so that he stops staring. Finally he realized that he just stared too much, he looked away for a while and spoke
" I'm sorry.... your beauty took me miles away" I blushed and felt the hotness of my cheeks. I was like
"Thank you Jax..." I paused for a while and continued
" Has anyone ever told you that...you are handsome?"
He smiled at me...for real that cute smile gives me butterflies. I was like
'' I'm sorry ...I know you hear that a lot of times."
He looked intensely at me and replied
" But not from you. It's the first time that I hear a pretty lady like you telling me about my looks "
I was blushing for real, I couldn't help it but, the way he smiled,talked and his compliments made me to blush uncontrollably. I decided to shift the topic since I couldn't help it. I was like
" I'm sorry about the last time... Is your boss okay now?"
" He is okay you don't have to worry. Though, he will be discharged tomorrow."
We both remained silent for a while, God please give me something to say, I can't help it when he starts to talk...he has a deep voice, cute smile,good looks and most of all...the compliments. I wanted to walk away so I spoke to him
" Jax see you----" I didn't finish my sentence and he interrupted
" Will you be my date tonight?" I was puzzled again...this time, I was the one staring at his cute smile and I replied while stammering
" Uum...Jax... you know" I paused then gave a sigh. I continued
" Uum Jax ... It's just Reids--- uum....Reids just---"
" What did I do?" It was Reids (Xavier) himself. Jax replied to him
" I was informing her that she will be my date tonight. " Reids (Xavier) looked at me and smiled. He spoke to me
" It's fine Cara... you can do whatever you want to do." Jax was shocked about my name because the last time I told them that I'm called Isabella. He was like
" So you are Cara and not Isabella?"
I was scolding Xavier inside and gave him that look 'you stupid dumb head'. Xavier looked at me and he corrected what he said
" Cara is not her real name. She just loved my puppy called Cara so much....so I had to name her that way because---" I looked at Xavier and wrinkled my face while looking at the floor. I was like
" Jax why don't we have a chit chat together? I want to know more about you."
" Sure" he replied while locking our arms then left.
Xavier Pov
I had seen a guy around Cara. He was my business partner and also a rival who always takes what's rightfully mine... They call him Jax. I folded my fist tightly when I saw him staring a hole out of her. I took quick paces heading to where he was standing and I heard behind me
" Reids... it has been a long time since I've seen you." I turned and looked behind, it was Mr Hutchinson. I was like
" Sir! I sent the invitation though I didn't expect to see you here... cause I know you are a very busy man" He had a girl beside him, she was my best friend Ivy. I gave her a big hug and kissed her forehead
" I missed you squirrel! Did you have to study abroad all those years?"
" C'mon Reids... that's not a proper way to greet guests." I let go and pinched her cheeks then spoke
" You are not a guest here darling...by the way Sir, you didn't have to bring her here. She always looks for trouble."
Mr Hutchinson smiled at us and he spoke
" Enjoy your time guys." He left us and went to his table. I looked at her and spoke
" Ivy...do you know how much I missed you"
" Ofcourse! You have no one else except me. Am I right?"
" Oooh that ego of yours... come here" I said while pulling her to me. After hugging and teasing Ivy. She was like
" Uum Reids, I forgot to share something with Mr Hutchinson... I'll be back darling. "
" That's so so so rude....how can you leave me all alone? You stayed all those five years in Canada and after coming back, this is all you can say? "
" Get some girl to flirt with. I'll be back soon squirrel" She left me alone. I looked at how she walked, she was still the same...the same walking style like a super model and the same taste of clothes...she always liked fancy things. I looked at her gorgeous pink sparkling mermaid dress that was perfect then said
"Scrap out of it Xavier. " I told myself and from a far I saw Jax still talking to Cara. I had a glass of red wine and took a sip while looking at them, He seemed to make her comfortable, she smiled and blushed a lot. I almost spit my wine and was like
" C'mon Cara that's so low of you....how can you blush so recklessly.?"
I put the glass aside and took quick paces towards them. I heard her mentioning my name. I went there to listen to what they were talking about, even when I reached nothing changed. I only did the worst and allowed her to be Jax's date tonight. Why does she make me feel insecure?! I kept asking myself even when she left with him again in front of me. The way she locked arms with him, how they left while laughing and how they walked together made me feel so small. I was startled by Becca and Bella who came to me
" Uncle... it's time to cut the cake. Aunty Cara is not there to help us. Can you please help us out?"
" Sure babies... let's go."
The party was so smooth...we cut the cake, ate together and enjoyed. But during the whole ceremony I didn't get a chance to be with Cara. She was somewhere with Jax and I couldn't help but to think what were they doing exactly? I was so insecure, I wanted her near and even during the dancing time she wasn't there. I was dancing with Ivy. I danced with her for a short time and I told Ivy
" Squirrel, I'll be right back. There is something I need to take care of."
" Reids---" I didn't give her a chance to speak. I only departed from there.
I started searching for her, I looked at everyone's face, entered my house and searched in each room including her's but, she was no where to be found. I got out of the house and headed to the pool... that's when I saw her.
He was holding her arm affectionately and his other arm was encircling her waist. I didn't give a damn shit, I wanted to fight Jax and punch his pale face but... I gave it a thought and retreated. I calmed down and headed to where they were. I kept walking towards them despite of how they smiled at each other, how they caressed each other and how they flirted. When I reached there, they were both startled and Jax removed his arm from her waist. I was like
" Am sorry for interrupting your moment guys. " I faced Jax and spoke
"Can you please give me some time with her alone?"
" Sure dude. " Jax replied and before he left, he asked Cara
" Are you sure you can stand alone?" She gave a nod and he disappeared. After he went away, I looked at Cara furiously and spoke to her
" Is this what I pay you to do? " She looked at me still puzzled and I carried on
" To flirt with men around the pool side and forget that you have kids to take care of?" She sighed lightly and replied
" C'mon Xavier... it's not what you are thinking!"
" It's not what I'm thinking!? Then what is it? A man holding your waist and touching your body like a cheap club girl? And then you say it's not what I'm thinking?" My anger started rising and I found myself speaking the words that I shouldn't
" Today is a special day for my kids and yet you are hear enjoying that fool's romance"
I was certain that my words hurt her, she was holding her tears back and I could see right in her eyes. She almost cried and replied
" Do you think that I don't know how much they need me?" She swallowed a lump of pain and asked me
" You...do you see me that cheap?"
I smirked and the corner of my lips twitched. She was like
" First with Mr Brendan and now Jax. How could you----"
" C'mon Cara can you please cut that drama of yours. I don't buy it! Just make sure tomorrow you see me in my office, I think we should talk." She laughed softly and yet there was pain in that laughter. She was like
" Okay Boss. I'll do that" she replied with an emphasizing tone. She was trying to seat on a sofa nearby and I noticed that she couldn't move, she was holding her tears back so hard and I felt her pain. She tried so hard to move and she ended up screaming out of pain
" Ouch" I was like
" What's wrong?"
" It's not your concern" she replied boldly and I guessed right away from what I saw, she had twisted her right leg. I squatted trying to help her maybe....to take her stiletto shoe off. As I touched her leg, she spoke furiously
" Don't touch me." She started calling out loudly
" Jax! Jax! " And from a far, I saw a man who always takes what belongs to me coming. He reached to where we were both standing and spoke to Cara
" Are you okay?"
" It's nothing serious... Can you please help me out. I want to go to my room."
" Sure" Jax carried her ( the bridal style) and then spoke to me
" Dude can you lead the way?" I looked at Jax furiously, his sentence made me to fold a fist. I wanted to punch a hole out of his head. I decided to lead the way, Being defeated for the second time.
First time... When he took my dearly wife away from me, she escaped with him. I had no clue of what happened to her, I remember one day Jax called me and informed about her death. They found her dead inside her room but all this happened because that dude lured her...otherwise she could be alive. I lead the way not because I was defeated...I admit being defeated this time but, I won't allow myself Being defeated again.
We entered the house, climbed the stairs and I opened the door of her room. Jax entered and l witnessed everything that was going on. The way he put her on the bed, removed her shoes and how he covered her with a blanket. He even told me to bring the first aid box and an ice pack. He treated her and for each touch he gave...I felt like I was ripped apart. For every eye contact he made, I felt like burning inside. I couldn't witness this any longer... I got out and slammed the door behind. I quickly went to the party venue ( the garden) and bumped into Mr Hutchinson. He spoke to me
" Do you stay with the lady that Jax had carried?"
" Yes Sir... Is there any problem?"
" Noo...I just want to remind you about what you promised. When Natalie died you promised to marry Ivy so, I don't expect you to love another woman. Is that clear?"
I kept quiet for a while before answering, then replied politely
" Yes Sir"
" By the way, I wanted to talk to that lady personally. She should know her boundaries. " He paused and continued
" Ivy is busy with the kids. You can go and have fun. I'll meet that lady tomorrow"
" Yes Sir " I said politely while going to where Ivy and the kids were.
