The next day my brother, blacksmith, craftsman and I worked on trying to identify all of the treasures. My brother then gave out two to every hobgoblin as a reward. As for the rest they were left alone for now until he needed them. Of course my brother and I also got two items as well with him getting a spear and bracelet. I on the other hand chose a pair of arm bracers that covered most of my forearms. As for the other artifact it was a black mask that only covered the bottom half of my face. When my brother saw the way I dressed he couldn't stop himself from laughing and call me chunibyo. Since I didn't understand what he was saying I decided to leave it alone for now. Later on we decided to take the hobgoblins out so that they can hunt hindbears. Along for the ride short redhead and lightswordswoman. They came mostly so they can watch the others fight and hopefully learn something. As Rou and I stood to the side watching we discussed about some new training options. Thanks to my subduing dragon exercise have been on a continual rise. I have even created a new way to control mana in a person. It can not only enhance physical strength but also be used to heal wounds. Unfortunately the second perk can only be used by someone extremely skilled.
The hunted hind bears until we finally had enough to feed everyone. The meal was beyond delicious making me thankful I was born in to this community rather then another. Soon the night passed peacefully without any problems. The next day was raining so we stayed in and had a fun event. A tournament to rank the members of the community. With that yet another day has gone by. On the morning following the tournament my brother and I woke up extra early to go hunt. We headed for the area he could the blank spot together. Once we made it to the edge of the area we went our separate ways. I walked through the forest hoping to come across something interesting. Sadly my hopes went unanswered because nothing really happened. I did encounter a few new type of beast ,but since they were easy to defeat I wasn't worried about them. I of course ate everything anything else was stored in the system which was added when I evolved. Either way I went walking until my spirit eyes picked up something. A few meters from where I was standing there was a group of men. The group consisted of nine people, eight of which were human. As for the last man he had long pointy ears with light green hair. If I am remembering correctly then this guy should be an elf.
Human A: You better have a damn good reason for having us come out here.
Elf: Don't worry I have information that will make it more then a little worth it. Within a few days the elf princess will leave the village. She be going out for a ritual at the spring of souls ,and thus pass through a certain path on her way back. If you set up an ambush there then you can capture her.
The elf then went on to show them on a map where they needed to be. Soon their conversation was coming to a close so the humans left. Since the elf was alone I decided to make a move to see if I can't get more info. Before he could take more then two steps I leaped out from my hiding place. Once I was inches from him my reached out grabbing his throat. Holding him up I looked at him with a ruthless grin.
GoblinHou: You had quite the interesting conversation with those humans just now. So How about you tell everything you guys have planned. But if I were to be honest I kind of hope you refuse to answer. That way I can use you as a test subject for some new skills.
Elf: You filthy Ogre you had better release me or else....
His resistance brought a gleeful smile to my face as my spirit eyes activated. This time I was using spirit shock at different levels to torture them. At first the pain was manageable then I suddenly increased it. Once again I lowered the pain level this went on for a hour. During this time he from cursing me to begging for mercy. Finally he told me everything I want to know.
As it turns out there has been a war going on between humans and elves. Apparently the humans asked the elf for their secret medicine to save the princess. Unfortunately the elves have a rule making it impossible for them to give it to humans. As for the elf I captured he is a part of a group that were bought out be humans. After getting my info I began to wonder if I should tell Rou. As things stood the war really has nothing to do with us right now. Still I couldn't help but feel it would only grow and eventually become our problem. For now I decided to tell Rou about what I know to hear his thoughts. Done with him I killed the elf quickly. After disposing with the body I continued my hunt. Once I was back at the mine I immediately went to find Rou. When I found him I decided to hold off telling him for now. Reason why is because the girls he usually spends time with were looking more than a little pissed off. The next day was still pretty much the same as before. Dumbass still hasn't figured why they were mad at him.
Still bad news can also come with good news such as some hobgoblins awaken the ability to use magic. With it finally came subordinates for HobgoblinSei who was quite happy. Luckily by the end of the day my brother at last knew what was wrong. That night was fairly happy for them. Of course I also had some fun with Druid and this time lightswordswoman joined craftsman in watching.
