Rebecca Quentin sat by the window, staring blankly at the towering buildings of Manhattan, New York, her thoughts drifting away.
The gentle ringtone of her phone suddenly interrupted Rebecca Quentin's thoughts.
Taking out her phone, Rebecca pressed the answer button, "Hello, sis..."
"Becca, I've returned to Y City for a few days now, are you doing okay?" Christine Quinn's concerned tone came through.
For some unknown reason, upon hearing Christine Quinn's voice, a wave of bitterness immediately surged through Rebecca Quentin's throat. It felt like she had been wronged, and suddenly encountered someone she could talk to; she felt even more aggrieved, her words stuck in her throat, unable to come out.
After waiting for a long time without Rebecca Quentin's response, Christine Quinn couldn't help but call out, "Becca, are you still there?"
"I'm here, sis."
"Why does your voice sound so lifeless? Becca, did something happen to you in Alton?" Christine Quinn asked sensitively.
