[May 28th, 2011]

(Peter: POV)

Stifling a yawn I picked up my regular phone off my nightstand and sent a text in the group chat Gwen, the others, and I made earlier in the year.

[Gwen and I have planned a beach trip and Felicia agreed yesterday to come. What about the rest of you?]

A few seconds passed before I got responses from the others.

Ned: [I'm in]

Harry: [Count me for some fun in the sun Pete]

Liz: [Sure, sounds like fun]

[Good to know you guys]

All of us then started texting and going over some of the finer details, Felicia and Gwen joining in, until after about five minutes we stopped.

Given it was early in the morning and all of us were on summer break. So I'm sure I'm not the only one who wanted to go back to sleep.

Thus with the invite matter settled I put down my regular phone.

I then picked up my Spider phone to see if Spinner had sent me anything of importance.

When I opened the screen I saw a text.

[Call me]

So with that I immediately called Spinner.

"Good morning Peter, hoped you had a good rest last night."

"I did." I replied. "Now then, what's up?"

"Last night there was another incident at Oscorp. Someone broke into Norman's personal lab, then subsequently an accident occured within it." Spinner explained.

Leading my breathe to hitch.

For this is extremely bad.

"Now before you say anything Peter, there's currently not much need for you to worry, given I've already identified the person who broke into Norman's lab."

"If that's the case then why didn't you just lead with that?" I asked.

"To help keep you on your toes" Spinner replied. In a tone of voice he never used before.

Yeah, this is most likely because I connected him to the internet last night.

I'll definitely need to monitor this, and do so for anymore behaviorial changes going forward. But so long as Spinner is serious when it counts I think a few quirks will be fine.

"Haha, very funny." I dryly replied. "But seriously, what's going with the Oscorp situation?"

"Of course." Spinner replied. "Now then, the man I identified is a mercenary known as Jason Phillip Macendale Jr."

'And the fucking hits just keep on coming.' I thought.

Because of course the person who happens to break into Norman's lab is one of the men who ends up wearing the mantle of the villain Hobgoblin in the comics.

Who, and knowing my luck, is going to appear in a short while in full villain mode.

But at least this means I can cross another member of the Spider-Man rogue gallery off the list.

"Understood, have you tracked him down yet?" I asked.

"Unfortunately no. The Spider-Bots, nor the CCTV and traffic cams I've hacked into have been able to find a trace of the man. But the moment I find any trace of him I'll inform you."

"Got it." I replied.

"Oh and one more thing Peter. After Norman and most of his people cleared out I sent a Spider-Bot back into the lab to gather a bit more data and discovered the door to the lab has been forced open from the inside, after the Fail-Safe protocols were engaged. But the security key to disengage the Fail-Safe protocols was not utilized. The bot also discovered traces of Macendales blood mixed with both the GR-27 and G-Serum Norman had stored in the lab. To say nothing of the scorch marks I identified."

"Dammit." I muttered.

For me when it rains it fucking pours.

Because now not only has Norman's work in his secret lab been compromised, but it seems Macendale has already been affected by both serums, though the scorh marks details Sooner just told me are interesting. Because the only goblins I know of with direct pyrokineiss capability are...fuck me sideways!

Why?

Because I believe Macendale has been transformed into either the Hobgoblin of Earth-1610 or a messed up version of the Green Goblin of Earth-1610.

Both of which are, in my opinion, two of the most terrifying versions of the goblin characters in the entire Marvel multiverse. The Earth-1610 Green Goblin especially.

But this is all just conjecture and I won't know for sure until Macendale rears his ugly head.

But when he does I'll be ready.

"This changes things. Spinner we need to find Macendale like yesterday." I informed him.

"Of course Peter." He replied.

The two of us then talk for a bit more before we ended our call.

I then tried to rest a bit more, despite knowing what was now lurking out there.

Seriously, it is too much to ask for one easy week as Spider-Man?

What am I saying, of course it is.

The following day I returned to the Web.

Having decided to give myself a day off after that "wonderful" phone call Spinner and I had in the morning.

Especially since he had found no traces of Macendale since he called me.

But that just made me worried around the entire situation increase.

To say nothing of how it threw a monumental fucking wrench in regards to how I'd been handling Norman and the entire Osborn family situation.

Now there's no telling what the man might do.

Good thing ever since I brought Spinner online I've had him locked-in on surveilling Norman. That man so much as takes a piss and I'll know about it.

I really do.

Moving on.

Shortly after I arrived in the Web Gwen and Felicia did as well, since I asked them both to come. Then once all of us were together I explained the whole Macendale situation to them both.

I also filled Felicia in on some of Norman's activities, though I kept the information about my father to myself.

Felicia still needs to earn a bit more trust before I share that little tidbit.

Though from the way she was looking at me once I told her about Norman and Macendale I'm glad I refrained from mentioning the stuff about my dad. Since I feel it definitely would've made her shut down for it would've fried her brain.

"I think I need to sit down."

"You already are." I replied to Felicia.

"Right." Felicia replied. "Also Peter, how are you so calm about all this?"

"I know right." Gwen agreed.

"It's like I told Gwen before Felicia if you question and fight against every little thing in this superhero business you'll drive yourself insane. So better to role with most punches as they come."

"I'm not sure if I can." Felicia admitted.

"Eh, you'll get used to it after a while." I said. "Besides, I thought cats enjoyed thinking on their feet."

"Well this kitty is a bit different." Felicia replied, pointing to herself.

"We'll see." I said. "Okay, time for training."

"Again?" Felicia questioned. "I was hoping I could take the shit out today."

"Nope." I instantly replied. "You need a bit more practice before I let you take that baby out for a spin. I'm thinking another week at least. Gwen?"

"Yep. At least." Gwen agreed.

"What, no. That's so unfair." Felicia replied.

"Well as you know life isn't fair. Now, it's trainin time." I said.

Felicia reluctantly agreeing.

But after a while she stopped sulking and before she realized the new week began.

Meaning it was time for her to make her debut as the hero, Black Cat.
