Vera Warner felt like this was all a nightmare, as if she were still trapped in that terrifying room.
"I… I shouldn't have come. I'm so scared."
"Victor, I think I stabbed someone in the eye… What do I do? There was so much blood."
"They spiked my drink. I really didn't mean to."
"I'm so, so scared. I was afraid I'd failed you, afraid I wouldn't be able to face you and our two children."
"SOB… SOB… SOB…"
Vera Warner spoke through choked sobs, until finally, she was crying too hard to speak.
Seeing Vera Warner's tear-streaked face, Victor Morgan's heart ached so much it felt like it was about to shatter.
"It's okay. I know. I know none of this was your fault."
"I'll take care of everything. Don't you worry."
"This is all my fault. I got here too late. Let's go."
Victor Morgan comforted Vera Warner, shrugging off his jacket and draping it over her before sweeping her into his arms and leaving the hotel.
