More than anything, Victor Morgan resented himself. He had failed in his responsibility to treat Vera Warner well when he had the chance, and now she was facing these dangers because of it.
Victor forced himself to calm down and said, "Since you know him, do you have any idea where he lives? He and your mother had a falling out, so he took her away."
Chloe Warner, however, didn't seem to think it was a big deal. She even responded with a smile, "Dad, you don't have to worry about that. Uncle Ron won't hurt Mom. In the past, whenever Mom didn't listen to his arrangements, he'd just grab her and take her back. He never did anything serious, just scolded her a bit."
Seeing Chloe's innocent face only made Victor feel worse. He tried to soothe her, "Chloe, I know what you're thinking, but the situation isn't good. It's much more serious than you realize. This time, Ron intends to hurt your mother, and he's also threatening me. Do you understand what I'm saying?"
