Vera Warner gave a cold smile. She grabbed Lucy's arm, holding her in place, and threatened, "Good. It pays to be pragmatic. You're not willing to die at my hands. Now, hurry up and tell them to back off!"
Since Lucy White had agreed to let her go, she would keep her word. But her hatred for Vera Warner only deepened. She swore she would one day take the cunning woman's life with her own hands.
Lucy White waved her hand. "Everyone, fall back! Let her go!"
