At first, Vera Warner wasn't completely sure. She only suspected Sylvia Schuyler and couldn't bring herself to definitively accuse her.
But now, hearing Lucy White's confident tone—and realizing the words she was repeating could only have been overheard by Sylvia—Vera knew it couldn't have been anyone else.
Vera now cursed herself for being so careless. How could she have discussed something so important in that setting? She had completely underestimated how vicious Sylvia could be.
"Sylvia must have been the one who snitched. She's behind all of this! Let me see Brother Ron. I can explain it to him. You can't just condemn me like this!"
Vera couldn't let herself be killed for a crime she didn't commit. If they all attacked, she knew she wouldn't make it out alive. But she refused to be framed without a fight.
More importantly, she knew that if she died, that venomous Sylvia would continue to deceive Victor Morgan and would end up becoming her child's stepmother.
