Chapter 15 - Chapter 14: Aftermath

Sephiram sat on his bed, eyes gazing at the view of the hidden city through the window. The gentle breeze swept across the hospital room to give comfort to its patients. He sighed as he placed his hand on his chest to stabilize his breathing, then turned his head in front of him as he listened to their stories.

It's been four days since the incident outside the city which was supposed to be their Team Battle Exam. The military was able to wipe out the feral vampires that attacked the three classes but failed to capture Piers who escaped unscathed. Sephiram, along with Class Beta are rushed to the hospital to treat their injuries afterwards while the rest of Class Alpha as well as Class Charlie are sent for interrogation regarding the incident. Class Beta somehow got minimal injuries and they were discharged a day later but required to see a psychiatrist for therapy due to some of them experiencing trauma from that night. Sephiram on the other hand got huge gashes and broken bones from his fight with Piers and needs to be monitored by doctors for a few days.

"... And that's what happened. The entire school was somehow terrified that it was happening in the three great classes." Mark continued to tell the recent events that are happening in their school. He, Carol, Ian, and Mina are visiting him in the hospital. The class was dismissed early for them so they could visit their injured friend. Mina is sitting beside Sephiram, peeling some apples while the rest are standing in front of him.

"The Team Battle exam for the other classes has been on hold as a result." Carol continued. "To compensate for this, they did the Virtual battle instead to ease the tension built out because of the incident."

"Did Class Beta attend the school for the past three days?" Sephiram asked, hoping that the other class was okay.

"Actually," Ian answered, lowering his head. "Only a few of them have attended school since they are still traumatized by what happened four days ago."

"Class Charlie is also quiet as well," Mina added as she peeled the apple's skin and proceeded to cut it into bits. "We were so worried that they are traumatized as well." She placed the sliced apples on a plate and placed them on the table beside Sephiram. "They are also advised that they would seek a psychiatrist as well."

"What about you guys?" Sephiram asked them with a concerned look on his face.

"Well, our class is okay since we act on time. If it weren't for Carol's hunch, we would be Vampire food now." Mark answered.

"Is Anissa still at home?" Ian asked. "We haven't seen her since two days ago."

"The military interrogated her regarding Piers until now," Sephiram answered. "Since she's from the mainland, they wanted all the information regarding to him."

"Piers? Is that the vampire that almost killed you?" Mina looked at him with a worried look.

Sephiram nodded. "And now that my birthmark is out," he said as he placed his hand on his left shoulder where his birthmark was placed. "It's only a matter of time before the government seeking me out as well."

"I can't believe that Captain Davis was hiding him from us all along!" a fist was slammed on the table in anger as files were slightly scattered on the table. The generals only looked at a certain person seriously. "He should be reported to us that the Destined Man was his little brother instead!"

"I understand your point, General Brutus." One of the generals spoke. "But you have to consider Captain Davis' feelings on this matter now that his little brother got involved in this."

"And when are we gonna do?!" General Brutus angrily replied. "When those sons of a bitches vampires invade our beloved city to take the Destined Man? We won't allow it!" He looked at the person that was the facing opposite of him. "Mr. President, we want your decision right now!"

All the generals looked at their president who was on the opposite side of the long table. He is in his late twenties with short white hair and cold blue eyes gazing at his generals. He was wearing a dark blue suit with an equally dark blue necktie. He placed both of his arms on the table and sighed.

"Gentlemen." He spoke with authority as he looked at the generals in front of him. "I know you are all concerned about the safety of our Destined Man, and it will be a matter of time for our enemy to find out his whereabouts. For now, let's keep this discovery a secret from the public to avoid panic and tension since the three-hundredth anniversary of Libertas' founding is approaching in two months. Control the media if necessary. The police will assign some security to guard the Davis family for their safety." He stands up. "Meeting is adjourned."

As the President walked out of the meeting room, two guards were waiting for him; one was a stoic guy with long black hair that was tied in a low ponytail while the other a spiky blond hair. Both men are wearing black suits. The president turned left, and the guards followed suit.

"So," the blond-haired guy spoke as they walked towards the President's office. "Did Augustus have now spilled the beans about his little bro? Guy's in trouble now."

"It was Richard who reported this to the academy's principal." The black-haired man corrected him. "The principal reported this to Mr. President after the incident."

"What's your plan now, Prez?" The blond-haired guard asked the president. "Are you confronting Augustus now, considering that his little bro is now in big trouble?"

The president stopped in his tracks and turned around to face his bodyguards. "Summon Augustus to my office. It's been a while since the last time I spoke to him." He ordered with a grin on his face. "We're rivals, after all."

*

"You okay now, Anissa? I'm sorry that they still never let you out of the interrogation room for two days straight."

"I'm fine, big brother Augustus," Anissa answered as she got the cup of coffee in Augustus' hand. They were in the military cafeteria as Augustus sat down and placed his coffee on the table. "How's big brother Sephiram?"

"Still in the hospital, as always." He replied as he sipped his coffee. "But he is in stable condition now."

Anissa sighed in relief. "Thank goodness." She looked down at her coffee, her hands gripping the cup tightly. "I only heard it back then in the mainland that the vampires exiled rebels and traitors to a remote island and placed them in concentration camps. I can't believe that this is the island they talked about."

"Now we know that there are vampires on this island, let us hope that they still do not find this city." Augustus hoped that it wouldn't happen. "It would be a disaster if that happens."

The cafeteria door suddenly opened as the blond bodyguard entered, eyes scanned for a blob of blue hair. It was lunchtime at that time so many people gathered to eat their food. It took the blond a minute to find what he was looking for.

"Yo, Augustus!" he called while approaching him as Augustus turned behind. Augustus only gave him a distraught look when he saw who called him. "Hey, don't look at me like that!" he added.

"What did you want?" Augustus asked in an irate tone. "Did that son of a bitch send you here?"

"Well, he ordered me to bring your sorry ass to his office." He sarcastically replied. "This is about your little bro, Augustus."

"About Sephiram?"

*

The president looked at the view of the city through the large window, hands on his back. He didn't notice that the door opened, and the blond bodyguard entered the room, with Augustus and Anissa in tow. "I brought them here, Prez!"

"You may go now, Rick." He ordered without looking at his back as Rick stepped outside and the door closed behind him. He turned around to greet his guests. "Ah, thank you for coming to my office, Augustus." He said with a grin on his face.

Augustus was having enough bad luck on his day. First, he was called by the General's office first thing in the morning only to be scolded by said general about his little brother then they interrogated him for about five hours thanks to Westeria reporting it to the principal, and only the principal reported it to the government in return. And now he was summoned to the President's office, his most hated place in the government palace. Sure, the person in front of him is the President of Libertas but for Augustus, the man in front of him is one of the people he liked the least in his life.

For the President is his rival in their military academy days.

"All right, let's cut to the chase." He said in an irate tone as he irritatingly looked at the president. "What do you want now, Zirconia?!"
