Chapter 14 - Chapter 13: Rescue

"WAAAHHHH!"

Ryan and Anissa were nearly blown in the giant gust formed by Piers earlier, the leaves dancing violently through the wind. Luckily, the two were able to grab a nearby tree trunk before they were blown away completely. When the wind was dying down seconds later, they set their feet off the ground and continued to run towards the ruins where Class Beta was assigned, while Ryan cast a fireball as their lighting guide.

As the two reached the exit, they saw the ruins in view but as they reached closer, the two stopped dead in their tracks and were horrified at what they saw.

The vampires overwhelmed Class Beta, as the bodies of the entire class scattered throughout the ruins, screaming in pain and asking for help. All their clothes were now torn, laying them bare for the vampires to feast on their blood. Some of them are struggling in vain, and they only cry helplessly as the vampires drink their blood.

Ryan slumped on the ground in fear, clutching his staff as tightly as he could while Anissa only snarled in anger. She has seen these scenes before when she was a slave working in the palace, as one of the feasts that the Vampire God held every year which makes her feel sick every time she sees the vampires feasting on humans while the poor souls only enjoy being feasted by them. She only clenched her fist, eyes burned with anger.

"Hey! You horny vampires!" She taunted. All vampires turned their heads towards her, making a vicious growl like feral animals, mouths drooling with saliva and blood. "If you want our blood," she makes a fighting stance. "Then come and get it!"

"A-Anissa," warned Ryan in a frightened voice. "I don't think it's a good plan-" he was cut off when the vampires rushed towards her at incredible speed, making Ryan startled in fear. As the vampires leaped in front of her, she began to chant, causing one of her fists to be imbued with the magical circle.

"Ryan, back me up with your meteor," she commanded. "Let's rescue Class Beta as soon as we can!"

"O-okay." Ryan stands up; he raises his staff high in the clouds.

As the vampires were now inches towards her, Anissa finished her chant and raised her magic-imbued fist towards them, the magical energy formed a beam hitting them. As they were turned to dust, she dashed to the remaining vampires who were rushing towards her, sending them a powerful punch in the face, causing them to scream in pain as their bruised faces formed a huge flame, engulfing them.

"Meteor!" Ryan cast as the magical circle formed in the sky and rained out balls of flames onto the vampires, screeching in pain.

After she delivers a kick in the vampire's face (which degrades immediately by the flames), Anissa delivers another roundhouse kick in another vampire's hips, bursting it into flames. She wiped her mouth with her hand as she assessed her surroundings.

'There are too many vampires exiled here from the mainland.' She looked at the recovering Class Beta after they realized that backup had arrived while covering what was left of their clothing. 'Class Beta has been slowly recovering, but we can't beat all of them at once.'

"Ryan!" she called out to her companion, who continued casting Meteor. "Can you heal Class Beta's wounds while continuing to cast Meteor?"

"I don't know if I can do it." Ryan stutters, "But I will try."

"Good." Anissa nodded and proceeded to deliver another powerful kick to the vampire.

Ryan raised his staff upward and began to chant a spell, not knowing that a vampire lunged at him from behind.

*

Ciel was almost done healing his last classmate as he turned his head towards the fighting. Anissa continues to kill the vampires with her punches and kicks while her companion continues to cast meteors to mitigate the vampires' movements. Luckily, most of his classmates are now healed but still weak due to loss of blood. He could hear Anissa order her companion to double cast Heal and Meteor, but he noticed that as her companion began to chant the spell, a vampire began to lunge at him from behind.

Ciel has no time to react as he reaches out his arm, hand in a stop motion as a magic circle materializes on his palm.

"Snipe!" A single arrow-like magic emerged on the magic circle, flew towards the vampire in a circular motion, and impaled the vampire's head, killing and dissolving into dust instantly.

*

Ryan cast Heal on Class Beta, as a magic circle materialized above them. A rain of glowing light emerged from the magic circle touching the entire team and causing their body to glow as the spell took effect. Seeing that the spell was working, he began to cast Meteor again.

Anissa punches another vampire in the face, and it dissolves into dust. She turned her head in the opposite direction and was shocked to see another hoard of vampires marching towards them.

"Damn!" She cursed under her breath. "There's no end to them!"

"M-my mana's r-running low now," Ryan informed her as they were now surrounded by the vampires. She could hear Class Beta retaliate against the oncoming vampires but even they are being overwhelmed. "What should we do now?"

The two readied their weapon as the vampires snarled at them as prey cornered. Anissa wished that her brother was able to get away from the Dark Star and help them.

But as hope was lost, a magic circle suddenly materialized above them and a rain of holy arrows launched at the vampires, screeching in pain as they were dissolved into dust.

Anissa and Ryan looked above as they saw the magic circle which produced the holy arrows above.

"Holy arrows?" Anissa was shocked. "Who-" she turned her head in the left direction and saw Instructors Claus and Axiom; the latter put down his hand as he finished his spell. The military squad is behind them.

"Instructor!" Class Beta sees their teacher in delight while Ryan and Anissa sigh in relief as they see the instructors and the military arrive.

"Kill all of the vampires!" the leader of the military squad ordered his men. "Don't let every single one of them escape!"

"Yes sir!" the men ordered as they proceeded to kill the vampires. The screams of the vampires echoed throughout the night as they were mercilessly killed by the military.

The instructors approached the two. "You two!" Axiom called them out. "You're from Class Alpha, right?"

Anissa and Ryan nodded. "But how did you-"

"One of your classmates successfully contacted your instructor," Claus explained. "Since the other classes are under attack as well, we decided to bring the military as reinforcement."

"Your instructor has been there as we speak," Axiom added.

Anissa and Ryan looked at each other and they remembered Piers. They hope that Sephiram is still alive. "Instructor, you have helped my brother!"

"What do you mean?

*

Sephiram dodged another gust attack from Piers while waving his hand, releasing a series of fireballs aimed towards the Vampire General. Said the general blocked the fireballs with his one fan and threw his other fan like a boomerang at Sephiram, which he proceeded to block with his rapier; but the force of the fan was so strong that Sephiram was struggling to keep up with the momentum, which the fan's strong force overwhelm him and send him flying backward, ended up being hitting himself in a large tree.

He began to taste his blood, as he slumped down and tried to regain his strength. The fan flew back to its owner and seeing his opponent trying to stand up, Piers took it as an opportunity to create another gust towards his opponent to finish him off.

Sephiram screamed in pain as the gust slashed off his clothes and body; blood began to ooze out on these slashes and its scent blew alongside the wind. He felt that his body slumped on the cold grass; his weapon was out of his reach.

"Seems you look like a fool to challenge me, human." Says Piers as he approaches Sephiram in a catwalk fashion; his hand on his hip while holding his weapon. "You're all talk and no bark. You humans are all the same. In the end, all of you suffer the same fate: beneath us!"

'Crap! I can't move my body!' Sephiram cursed as he tried to stand up, but he felt a heavy body leaning against him. He looks into Pier's eyes with anger. "Damn you!"

"Still barking, I see?" Piers leaned closer towards Sephiram's face. Too bad you're a handsome fellow but I have no choice but to kill you." He holds Sephiram by the chin and turns his head to the right. "Well, since your blood is so sweet by the smell alone, I'll drink your blood first before- what's this?"

His eyes fell on the strange mark on Sephiram's left shoulder. As he looks at it closer and realizes the strange mark on his prey's shoulder, his eyes widen, and his expression begins to change as he begins to laugh.

'What's wrong with him?" Sephiram asked as he noticed his opponent's changing expression. Fear began to draw on his face when he realized that his left shoulder exposed the mark that he was hiding. 'No!'

"My Lordship, now and forevermore!" Piers cried in excitement, raising his head and reaching out his arms above, face written in delight and ecstasy; like he was worshipping someone. "Rejoice, for the man whom you seek has finally been found! Bask me in your praise as I present him to you alive!"

"I don't think so." Sephiram hears a voice dripping in anger. "Keep your hands off my student if you want to live.

A holy arrow flew towards Piers, alerting the vampire to leap back away from Sephiram before the arrow could hit him. Realizing that his opponent was releasing him, Sephiram sat up and looked behind him as he saw an angry Westeria aiming his arrow at Piers, ready to shoot.

Piers could hear some heavy footsteps as he looked behind and saw Instructors Axion and Claus with the military behind them. He looked again in Westeria's direction as he saw another set of military squads emerge behind him, he never noticed that a huge sword was hurled towards him and landed a hit on his back, howling in pain.

"Sephiram!" Augustus ran to his younger brother, kneeling to check on his condition. "Are you okay?" Sephiram nodded in response.

"I missed," Axiom said in sarcasm. "I want to hit him to his head."

"So that's a vampire general in the flesh." Claus assesses the vampire. "Never knew that they send one to disturb this island in peace."

Piers took out the sword on his back and threw it to the side while hissing in pain. He also looked up to the sky and realized that the sun had begun to rise, and the night would be over soon. "Seems this is the time for me to retreat."

"Don't let him get away!" Augustus ordered as the military rushed towards Piers; but stopped in their tracks as a powerful gust of wind surrounded the vampire, engulfing him.

Piers looks at Sephiram one more time with a wicked grin on his face before the wind envelops him fully. The military prepared themselves as the wind would launch a surprise attack, but the wind suddenly died down, and the vampire was nowhere in sight.

The sun rises in its magnificent light, signaling a new day. Shouts of orders can be heard as the military scouts the whole forest for further ambush while the paramedics check Sephiram for further injuries placing his hand on his bare left shoulder to cover his mark. Augustus reassured him as he could hear the calls of his classmates from behind, while Anissa and Ryan ran to him with worried looks on their faces.

Sephiram feels what is a mix of fear and determination. Fear because now that the Vampire God will soon find out of his existence he will send his generals to capture him while determination because the fear will give him a lot of time to train himself to become stronger, so that when he faces the Vampire God one day...

...he will be ready to kill him.
