Chapter 611 - New Challenge 4

She was likely to reduce her dangers by doing it, but that would not be as helpful toward improving her Observation Haki and honing her various skills and techniques.

A lot of what she had learned was already deeply ingrained in her body, but there still existed parts that had not been made completely whole with her.

She took a minor step back, narrowly avoiding their attacks before leaping into the air.

She avoided their following attacks narrowly as she passed over them.

Her legs and tail continued to kick to gain more control and momentum as she moved at a higher speed through the air.

Her body flipped as it was upside down, just as it was passing above her two opponents.

Her head was passing just above their heads.

Time stood still as she could feel the danger coming her way.

She could foresee the following attack as she saw the direction that their weapons would change toward in that short instant.

She could see how both of her opponents would swing upward to her as she was still in that position.

Her tail flicked out, causing a large impact, sending her further in the direction that she had been heading.

The small and fast movement allowed her to narrowly escape the attacks as she was sent further away behind them.

A couple of other small movements resulted in her completing her flip as she was still going toward the ground.

One of the axes was flung over the shoulder of Gaban, aiming toward her back with a lot of force, just before she was about to touch the ground.

Another small movement of her tail and a swing of her arm lashed out with enough force to send her tumbling toward the ground at an angle that dodged the flying axe just before it reached her.

The axe passed over her before heading at high speed and force toward a tree.

The tree was giant, yet the axe passed through a lot of it with ease, showing off the power of Gaban.

Alyssia rolled over after landing with a roll and kicked around her legs as if performing a breakdance or form of capoeira, allowing her to build up more momentum before Gaban and Shanks turned back around.

She continued evading them as they closed in on her again, as she kept her body lowered closer to the ground, making use of her hands and feet along with her tail to get out of the way of each strike.

The ground was shattering in various places, making it less stable, while some were knocked into the air, providing more challenges for her to overcome.

She occasionally leapt off something to use as something to propel herself off or to stand on for a small time, while occasionally using them as cover to hide her from their sight or obstruct them.

The fight continued that way as she sought out all kinds of new and creative ways to evade them, making full use of her environment and what was going on around her.

There were times when she was not so passive when it came to simply evading what was thrown at her, as she began to take the initiative to make moves of her own that would influence their actions more.

If she made a certain move, then they would be the ones responding to her at times.

If it were a chess game, then she had mostly been playing a passive or defensive game where she was trying to best reduce her losses and avoid a confrontation.

That changed to a more aggressive game where she made moves that would force her opponent to move a certain way in response, as she gained more control and knew what kind of moves her opponent would be able to make.

Slowly, she began to find the right way of doing things somewhere in between those two extremes that was most comfortable to her, in how it would allow her to best avoid danger while still letting her experience the thrill of battle.

Once she got the hang of that and found no other ways to improve her usage of Observation Haki and evasive skills, she began to incorporate them better into situations that would be more combatant.

After sparring a little longer, she was able to feel confident enough to leave Elbaf.

A lot had been learned, and the daily fights with Shanks and Gaban had allowed her to earn more points.

The occasional spar with the other Red Hair Pirates allowed her to improve more and earn more points, just as she was able to seek out duels with some giants to do the same.

The time she was there came to a close, and she left everything behind.

She felt like she was ready for just about anything despite being warned of the threat that was ahead of her.

The date of the duel arrived as she stepped back into Empirica Island in a more secluded area that had been designated as the meeting point.

She was sitting on a tree trunk, kicking her legs out as she passed the time.

Her ears twitched as if picking up on some noise or sensing something with one of her other senses.

A smile appeared on her face as she pushed herself off the tree branch to land on the ground. "You have arrived, but it seems that this is not going to be the duel I asked for."

Her gaze turned toward the group of people that had gathered.

Among them was Una, who was dressed in armour ready for battle, while the others were just as prepared.

All of them were armed with weapons that were not the type of weapons or tools that would be so technologically advanced.

They were basic weapons that would be used during ancient times or less developed times when things like guns and cannons had yet to be developed.

It was to be expected, given how behind Empirica Island had been compared to other islands when it came to various advancements.

It was as if they had made slow progress or none at all toward developing more modern developments.

A woman stood at the back of the group, who seemed to be the leader and looked the most familiar to Alyssia.

It was Una, the twin sister of Deux, whom she had met in the dungeon.

Una was the person she had heard a lot about and had spent a little time observing from afar.

Una was almost identical to Deux, with the only difference being that her eyes were red while Deux's eyes were purple.

Deux usually dressed in a black nun outfit, while Una wore an outfit that would be suited for someone in a high position in a church, with white and gold colours.

The people who had gathered each had unique parts about them with how they dressed and were styled, but they all carried the same traits that others did in Empirica Island.

All of them had platinum blonde hair, red eyes and dark skin.

Only Deux seemed to be the sole exception to the people who did not possess all of those traits.

Una looked over Alyssia coldly. "You expect me to go along with your little games? I know which tribe you come from, but something is different about you. You are not quite like those that I remember."

Alyssia shrugged in response. "I guess I cannot always get what I want. Oh well! I tried, but this just makes things all the more interesting. You could say so. I am a member of the Mink tribe, but I am a little different from them."

What she wanted was a fight one-on-one with Una, but it was not guaranteed that she would go along with what Alyssia wanted.

Someone in such a position would often not bother getting their hands dirty with certain matters, and they would think that it was beneath them to handle certain matters themselves.

They would leave such matters to those beneath them and would only step up if such people could not handle such tasks.
